I would go with MechanicalMan's idea. They're nice because they can't be tipped over, and they don't slip around.

Also if you put a couple ice cubes in the water, will make it easier for him to see the surface of the water as they float around.

Another idea is a water fountain. The water is constantly moving, so it's very easy to see. http://www.petmate.com/Products/Deluxe-Fresh-Flow-...

I hope that helps! Good luck.

Maybe get a see through plastic container and place it in a corner where he cant knock it over?

And if its safe for cats, maybe put a drop of food colouring in the water as it will stand out especially against a clear plastic container.

    hope this helps

Get a heavy bowl with a rubber lining at the bottom, he won't be able to scoot it across the floor and spill the water, and it will make it very hard for him to tip over.

I think your cat is just playing with it. My cat used to do the same thing, so i bought a bowl that shes unable to tip, now she tries to stand in it. I think its funny

Why don't you just get a non-tip bowl?
