Isn't there an actual place called the Eye of the Needle...?

I know there is a biblical proverb talking about the eye of the needle but I had heard there was an actual location where there was a hole in a wall or something...and men had to get off their camel and take everything off to fit through because it was so small...

Update:

Err..not proverb but parable..

The Eye of the Needle refers to the ancient gate of the city, there was a camel door similar or our "doggy doors" and it was known as the eye of the needle. A camel could pass through this entrance into the city but it was extremely difficult because the passage was so narrow. A camel had to stoop down onto it's knees and carefully wedge itself through. It was a difficult task and the camel could only do it, if it were to be on bended knee and bowed down.

THe Bible says it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of the needle than for a rich man to enter heaven. So, a rich man can enter but it would be more difficult and laborsome than for the camel to go through the needle. And if he were to enter, he must humble himself and be in total submission to Jesus.

When the gates of Jerusalem were closed, you could get in through the "eye of the needle." A small door next to the large gate which would allow a man through it but not a loaded camel.

The biblical reference speaks about it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than enter the kingdom of heaven . God was referencing that we cannot serve money and God...one has to pick.

yea, from what I hear, it was a tunnel that camels went through. And it was so tight that you couldn't carry too much stuff on the camel, you have to leave some things behind.
