IBS and colon cleanse? Should I?

I have IBS and I go #2 at least 3 times a day, would taking a colon cleanse have a negative effect on my IBS?

Update:

I'm fine with the amount of times I go to the bathroom now, I don't want it to get worse, but I heard colon cleanse can clean out toxins and make you feel healthier.

Since you are already having bowel movements 3 times a day, a colon cleanse would only aggravate your intestinal tract. In other words, it will stimulate more bowel movements than you are already experiencing.

Has your Doc presribed any medication for your IBS ??

Bentyl ( presription only) is a great medication that is an anti-spasmotic that calms the irritation of the colon ( IBS) and, it should ease your symptoms.

Avoid fruits, veggies as these will stimulate your bowel.

If your symptoms persist or worsen, call your Doc and let him/her be aware of what's happening.

I hope that this helped some.

If you have IBS symptoms, you can choose from several options for treatment. Your treatment options taking laxatives, increasing fiber intake as well as colon cleansing. According to natural health experts, colon cleansing is effective and suitable for those who suffer from severe IBS symptoms.

Colon cleansing is about cleansing the intestines. It is believed that cleaning the colon is just as important to cleaning other parts of the body. A dirty colon can become toxic and this may be why your digestive system becomes irritable causing IBS symptoms. The idea of colon cleansing is to cleanse out the intestinal area

I can't speak specifically to IBS, but I can say there is no evidence or plausibility to suggest a colon cleanse has any health benefits whatsoever, or that it will give you more energy. It's a scam.

I think you should try other remedies first. Have you increased your fiber? Focus on soluble fiber - it should help slow down the food through your tract.

Your food is moving too quickly through your system already. Why add to the stress?

Colon cleansing is definitely a fringe treatment. In and of itself, fringe treatments are not necessarily bad, but I would suggest more accepted methods first. Accepted methods <> popularity on YA.

Colon clense translates in to major case of diarrhea. Do you really think that is wise? Aside from wise it is totally unnecessary, the body is a self cleaning unit.
