Why does my cat have extremely smelly breath?

My cat is female, desexed, 3 years old, no teeth problems, drinks plenty of water, eats well, lives outside during the day but inside at night, has a diet of cat food (tin) & dry food aswell as raw and cooked bones as treats. Her breath has been stinky for about a year now. Her behaviour has not changed at all. Could someone tell me what they think.

Most cats breath will have a smell. But if your cats breath is extremely smelly she could have bad teeth or cancer. If she has not been to a vet recently. She needs to go to a vet, and have her mouth examined.

*The wet food could be making her breath stink as well.*

Here are some sites about bad breath.

Foul smelling breath could be a problem in her mouth with her gums or teeth. But if you are sure all is okay there, I would say she's probably catching mice outside and eating them or catching some sort of animal. Try keeping her inside for a bit and see if the breath problem changes. If it does, you found the cause. If it doesn't, I would suggest you make an appointment with your Vet.

It's probably just build-up of food and stuff in her mouth. Mine got bad breath after about 3 years, too.

    cuz it's a f*ckin animal.

We're HUMAN, we brush our teeth 3x daily, and some of us STILL have horrible breath! imagine YOUR breath if you NEVER brushed, AND then suddenly became a mangy animal!
