Controlling a possessive cat?
Now I really love my cat Jack (1 1/2 years old - neutured male), but he REALLY LOVES me. My boyfriend says when I'm gone he walks through the house and cries looking for me. When I play with our 4 year old male Tyger - he attacks Tyger. I was nuzzling with my boyfriend on the floor last night - Jack proceeded to run back and forth meowing trying to get my attention. In the process scratching my boyfriend across the forehead as he was jumping over him. Jack always has to be within 1 foot of me (literally). This cat is waaayyy to attached in my opinion that I can't get a moment's peace and quiet!
How do I break him of this? We live in an apartment and he's a strict inside kitty. I keep him on "content-um" drops which makes him feel like he's got a full belly - that way he will fall asleep. I hate to keep him drugged though (makes me feel like a bad mom)
HELP FOR A MOM AT HER WITS END?
Tried these remedies for over 4 months now: spraying with water, swatting him on the tip of his nose, and shutting him alone in the bathroom until he calms down.....all to no avail. It's like he just doesn't learn!

I am not familiar with content-um, but many have had success with Rescue Remedy in calming down a cat. It is a herbal product. It can be put in the water, or rubbed on the ear.
I think until Tyger and Jack resolve their alpha status, things might be a bit contentious.
For a time out, which you are doing by putting him in the bathroom, I would suggest a small dark closet. Make it unpleasant, and the time in the closet short. Being put in a spacious bathroom isn't all that much of a "punishment".

Try spritzing him with some water when he does something bad like attacking Tyger and do it every time he does and eventually he will get the picture.
Good Luck!

Because you have two males and I'm guessing jack has been with you longest he is going to be constantly on you so that everyone knows you belong to him. The only thing I know that will make him less competitive for your attention and only LESS competitive is a female cat.
