Do you speak your political opinion as forcefully in public as you do in YA?

Be honest. Online debating with its relative anonymity affords a sort of protection for those who get really nasty. Some of the things that I've seen in type I don't believe would pass for proper social behavior and in some cases would cause a fight. Admittedly, I've been more "forceful" online than I would probably would be if I was having a face to face debate. So are your "huevos" bigger in here than they are in person?

For the most part, yes. But I do respond more harshly on here in certain situation that don't generally come up in "real life" conversations. But if I happened to be actually talking to someone who was saying all of the ridiculous stuff that gets said on here, I'd probably respond just as I do online.

    Not really.

Like many here I find a sick amusement in using innuendo and sometimes outright insults where I feel they are deserved.

This is something I would normally not do in a face to face debate.

Also, I realize that many people here are purposely insulting and it becomes a little game which I normally win due to the fact that I am in general more intelligent than most of these conservative pinheaded children.

I enjoy correcting their poor sentence structure and hitting them where it hurts when they expose their true prejudices and ignorance.

This sort of gut shot approach is not something I would do to a person in any other situation.

I get in fewer "disputes" in public, but I honestly don't run in to the same type of people in public. I also believe that my written comments come across as much *itchier than if I verbalized the same thing.

I do lots of volunteer work for political campaigns (and have for over 30 years now) and I had never run across the things I see on this forum!

I have to admit I often offend people with my forceful method of debate. I try to be thoughtful of other people's opinions, however I do have a tendency to shut down other trains of thought.

Unknown to others, I am always listening and taking in what I hear. It even changes my view at times. But I need to be less aggressive in person. I think it is easier to be tactful in print when you have time to reconsider before you push submit.

As a non-elected public official I am not allowed to publically take a political stance according to my job contract. So no, but I would if I was allowed to, but probably not at work cause they're a bunch of liberals.

I don't think most people on here actually say things they could say in public but I think I do or pretty close. Sometimes I get mouthy on here but never dirty. It is always my opinion.

Of course I don't track people down and beat them with my opinion but I let anyone know that I didn't vote Obama and don't back his policies.

I don't get very "forceful" on here but what I do say here is what I say in the real world. I have certain beliefs and stand by them very strongly but I don't believe that we have to get nasty to get them across, in any setting.

wow i feel bad for Seldon a liberal warrior in the lions den. good luck. yea i'm pretty much the same way in person as i am on YA. I just pick my politcal battles more carefully when i'm at work because i'm surrounded by dittoheads.

There's very little politics and lots of emotion here - I haven't seen much of a political opinion past "I HATE/LOVE OBAMA SO MUCH".

I haven't said anything here that I wouldn't say in public. I don't get nasty about it though.
