It's a personal choice they make. There is no proof that God doesn't exist. Yet they choose to believe that he doesn't. It's a belief system, as much as they fight to say they are not believers. The problem is empirical evidence does not exist at hand to prove beyond a shadow of doubt the existence of God, yet there is no way anyone can prove he doesn't exist. So you see, it all comes down to personal choices.

All the while, I truly believe that if such evidence did exist to prove the very existence of God, there will still be people who choose to not believe. Atheism is a cult. A different kind of religion, if you wish.

Don't get all strung up when they ask you for proof. It takes faith to believe there is a God and for the one who wants to believe there are more than 1000 proofs. Unfortunately there is no proof for the unbeliever.

The Bible says that faith is not something you work for yourself, it's a gift from God. If you have faith, you need no proof. Yet God is proving you his love if you choose to believe in Him.

Also, if at the end of your life you turned out to be wrong and God doesn't really exist, you don't lose anything, but the alternative is too much of a risk for me to pick. So would you say Christians believe out of fear of death? Perhaps is starts that way, no doubt, but ultimately people are going to love and worship something bigger than themselves... and be a part of such. What that represents in the very object of your faith and affection.

So, does God exist or not? I believe he does. And because I believe that the quality of life in general is way better than if nobody believed in God.

    I hope this helps.

    Lots of things:

    1. The whole concept is illogical.

    2. Organized religion is laughably pathetic and has been proven dead wrong on so many topics, so why follow it. But if that's true, then why follow the bible... thus why believe in god at all.

    3. Everything in the universe and the discourse of time can be explained with scientific fact or logical ideas (logical being the key word), so there is no reason to need a god.

    4. The world is much better off without the money sucking, war hungry, hate spreading religions.

    5. The world would be a much more moral, peaceful place without any holy texts including the Bible.

    6. God is a well. No matter how much money you throw in, or time you spend looking down... you will see only an empty void.

I've heard some great quotes that should help you understand:

If you open your mind too much, your brain will fall out.

A skeptic's mind is like a garden, but a religious person's mind is like a landfill.

I contend that we are both Atheists. When you realize why you dismiss all other possible gods, you will realize why I dismiss yours.

We can not interpret pizza --- There is a pie in the sky --- RIGHT--- Why always classify ---you can not believe in god and not be an atheist --- Everybody hopes there is an afterlife--- Why is this tyrant god the choice of most---It would be ironic if god did exist and its choice was only atheist----Why would god require worship -- ( cause he is the coolest dude ever ) -or dudet--- its only natural to admire the best or the highest--- Why does your god create a natural world --yet remain supernatural ??? Maybe many do believe -- JUST ESPECIALLY NOT NOT NOT The Judeo Christian Muslim GOD --OR THE GOD OF ABRAHAM+++ Not excepting vague evidence is not arrogance--- Rather than using holy men to do its talking +++++++++++++ maybe -- Jesus could have stood 253 miles high --That's how he is made out to be --- And how about a picture of that -- Witnesses not allowed -- I distrust humans

Perhaps they * cannot *. If God real gave everybody unfastened will, then atheists, for something motive, have made up our minds to not consider. As anybody above already mentioned, "arguing" for God's life is really moot. In the tip, anybody will consider due to the fact that the Holy Spirit eventually convicted them of the reality. If one does now not consider within the Holy Spirit, I do not see that going down. If an atheist makes a decision their present existence does not believe "correct", they are going to search some thing else. Do Christians have a "higher" existence due to the fact that of God? Look at Paul, he used to be crushed, whipped and run out of the city for his ideals. Christians would possibly say Christianity brings them relief. An atheist might retort that they want no such crutch. Christians would possibly say they sin much less. Ha! Neither has a lock on morality. You acknowledged that we can not use "the afterlife" as a help for why Christianity is higher. If any such predicament is located at the reaction, then we need to keep on with reviews in this earth. In that case, if we prohibit our reaction to existence on this planet, we would possibly discover that the atheist might * continually * consider their existence is higher as an unbeliever. It is not till you emerge as a consider that your viewpoint alterations to incorporate the afterlife. --- further ---- I spotted you mentioned each "ultimately" and "brushing aside the afterlife". To a Christian, the 2 are inseparable.

A complete and total lack of evidence of any such deity. Since you've capitalized god, I assume you mean the Christian God and for that one, a thorough reading of the bible took care of that.

Well, can you prove God exists without citing the Bible or pointing to nature? I'm not an atheist, but I do have a minor in philosophy. The burden of proof lies upon you. However, God's existence can't empirically be proved.

Edit: They don't believe because the existence of God can't be proved to their satisfaction. However, each atheist may be different.

Because the existence of a god is not a logical conclusion. If there is a god, then all natural laws go out the widow.

edit- why do you have a problem with how we answer you,

the first is the truth, and the second is the Socratic method. We are trying to get you to think, witch we know your not used to

Perhaps the scientific evidences makes them sure that there is no GOD! Or they do not want to be busy with the imaginary.

While waiting for evidence, I'm not inclined to jump to conclusions -belief in a god being a conclusion.

Because I have studied all sorts of religions and found no need, no reason, and no credibility behind the blind belief of a supernatural being that may or may not (and most likely does not) exist.
