Cats knocking over water bowl?

I am running on my last nerve right now. I don't know what to do about my cats water bowl. I have been feeding them in a regular bowl, but by the days end it is knocked over. I have resulted in placing the bowl on a towel, but alas that also gets soaked. I have bought an electrical water fountain that bubbles the water over, but he also swats the water out of that and eventually knocks it over. I have tried the automatic water feeder, but he swats that because of the bubbles in the holder and when the water gets low, he knocks the whole thing apart and the pieces are found in two different rooms. So please anyone got any ideas of what i can do. Please only serious answers and nothing involving placing the water bowl in a tupper ware container. Thanks

If it's more a matter of the cat knocking the bowl over, buy a bowl that is weighted (I think usually they sell these for dogs so you might have took int he dog aisles)--it's real heavy and the one we have I have to use two hands to lift The cat won't be able to move it.

If it's more a matter of the cat splashing water out of the bowl, get a bucket and put it in the bathrub. A full bucket will be pretty heavy so the cat probably can't knock it over and if he wants to splash, fine, the bucket is in the bathtub so the water will just go down the drain. It'll be easy to dump the water and refill the bucket. You lift the bucket out and set on the floor when you need to use the bathtub for other rhings (I can't imagine what else). Problem solved. Oh, and the cat will have plenty of water even if he splashes some of it out. Merely putting his bowl int he tub will still have th problem of if he knocks it over, he won't have water to drink later until someone refills the bowl.

I had the exact same problem. I used to place their water in a plastic tupper ware container and it always got knocked over, or they were swatting it; it was so annoying!! So, I went to the pet store and got a ceramic, non slip bottom. It's the heavy duty kind and ever since they haven't swatted and I guess it's too heavy to knock down. I don't know if you've tried that yet.

Cats are goofy sometimes so in order to stop this you would have to figure out why the cat does it, which can be near impossible. My advice is to use a heavy bowl and only put a little water in at a time. Water the cat a little in the morning and a little at night. Cats are smart he will realize that he only gets a little each time and won't waste it.

I use a big popcorn tup i got for free from seeing lord of the rings a few years back. I fill about half full, which is about a half gallon of water. He has trouble moving that one. too heavy. Little bowls he empties right out. Drove me nuts.

It's only the one cat that likes the water to move when he drinks it. The other doesn't care.

A lot of cats like to play in water. Put a big bowl in the tub for them and show them that, they can play there to their heart's content.

Non skid dog bowls help too, and fill them only half full. It's harder to get the water out.

Try getting a heaver bowl like the big brown ones they use for dogs.

If that fails find the biggest bowl you can and half fill it as it will be heavy and they can't hopefully move it.

Get an earthenware bowl, preferably a heavy one that he can't tip. My mum has a pair of demons- i mean ferrets that always tipped over their water bowl so we got a heavy earthenware bowl and although they spend all day trying, they can't tip it.
