Matteau's was pretty memorable. Some good ones mentioned here. My homer answer is Steve Yzerman in 2OT of a 0-0 game 7 against St. Louis in '96.

Steve Yzerman's Game 7 Double OT goal against the Blues from the Blue line during the '96 playoffs.

It sent the Wings to their first Stanley Cup Finals since 1966

Keith Primeau's goal 92 minutes and 1 second (or 12:01 of the 5th overtime) into round 2, game 4 of the 2000 playoffs against the Penguins.

  • Two of them come to mind.

Daryl Evans goal to beat Edmonton in 1982 (#2 on TSN's list of the most famous playoff goals)

    Brad May's OT goal

Toronto fans probably remember Lanny McDonald's goal against the Islanders to send the Leafs into Semi-Finals in 1978 (or Borschevsky's goal in 1992 against Detroit)

Matteau, Matteau, Matteau or May Day, May Day, May Day.

I also remember a Sergei Fedorov OT goal versus Minny in '92 (I think). It was a nice enough top-shelf goal but what made it momentous was the fact that it was the first NHL OT goal in the playoffs decided by video replay.

Keith Primeau, 5th overtime goal vs the Penguins in 2000 to tie the series 2-2 in Pittsburgh of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals

Good insight so far, but a bit of homerism there, Rangers fan. (it's Matteau btw.)

How about Mario Lemieux from Wayne Gretzky during the 1987 Canada Cup

As my homer pick .. has to be either Lafleur in 1979 against the Bruins, or any of the ot goals the Habs scored in the 92-93 playoffs especially those against the Nordiques

That's tough as hell, but I'd go with the '94 Rangers overtime winner in the conference finals. I believe Mataou (I know that I spelled it wrong) but that was a huge won.

I am not, will not, and will never be a Rangers fan. I bleed orange and black, just growing up it was a big goal when you saw it.

Steve Smith's own goal in 86 that probably kept the oilers from 5 straight cups

    Lafontaine's 4th OT goal in 1987
