What you are are seeing is the result of a focused effort by republicans and conservatives and neoconservatives to blame "liberals" for not going along with what's supposed to be "American," which is actually only what republicans say is American. In other words, the reason the term "liberal" carries such a negative stigma for some people is because they don't realize neoconservatives under the Bush administration attempted to turn the U.S. into a totalitarian nation that only looks like a democracy.

Both poorly defined forms of the term liberal are obviously coming from anti-liberals who want to support a form of right-wing extremism.

So when you are anti-liberal this is what you're saying:

Since these designated appellations are mutually exclusive, I am forced to pick only one of them: I tend to lean towards the "typical, over-educated elitist Liberal who thinks [she] know[s] everything" point of view. What we call "liberalism" is in fact Statist Classism. You're simply describing the two classes they envision in their Utopia: the elite "ruling class" and "everyone else;" essentially government property and hopelessly locked into lives of deprivation.

In all seriousness, if you neither hope to be taken care of by your betters nor strive to rule those who do, you AREN'T a liberal.

For years now, Republicans and conservatives have used the word 'liberal' to mean anything they didn't like or anyone they disagreed with.

A good example is Newt Gingrich calling President Clinton 'the most liberal president in American history'. You'd expect more from a guy like Gingrich with a PhD in American History. All he really meant was that he really really didn't like Clinton. To Republicans, Hitler was a 'liberal' and so was Mao.

These days the word 'liberal' has been misused so much that it's lost whatever meaning it once had. So now they have ramped up the rhetoric, calling Obama names like 'socialist', 'marxist', 'communist' and even 'anarchist'. But it's still the same thing. 90% of the people who use these words really have no idea what they mean, they are just bad words and they hate Obama so he must be one.

Well I'm not saying I agree with the characterizations, lol, but the democrats are predominantly either the very richest in the country, and the very poorest in the country.

Almost every single billionaire is a democrat. Almost every billionaire world wide are left leaning.

Middle America with the exception of Lawyers and Government workers and Union Members, are republican.

Almost all small business people are republicans. Most of the middle "class" who are not parasite types like lawyers and union workers, are republicans.

What do you expect??? These are the exact same people who hate abortion because "they love children so much". Ask these same people to support things like healthcare and education for children and all of a sudden they're not so interested.

Making generalizations about Obama supporter is making the Republican voters feel better about the wasteland that is their party's future. Remember that the Republicans spent the last 16 years blaming everything that goes wrong in this country on "liberals" or foreigners.

Let me tell you something. The media is the left. Our education is the left. Poor are usually leftist. The wealthiest people are on the left. The world is leaning to the left. Humans lean to the left.

We are everyone. The tiny rest is the right. Such a minority in the world. Liberals win everyday. The liberals of 30 years ago are now the conservatives of today.

Look at gays marrying!! It's done. You know that gays will have that right in all the states very soon.

We are everywhere!!! A liberal is the future. A conservative, by definition, will hold to the past. It is bound to disappear with time.
