How do I get my locked bedroom door open. Locked Out!!!!!?
In my rush to leave the house this morning to get coffee, which i obviously needed (badly) i locked my bedroom room and know I dont know how to get in. Its one of those basic cheap locks (but not the kind where u can just use a butter knife) Please help!!!!
Thanks for all the answers, they were indeed all helpful. So far no luck. But im gonna keep trying as i refuse to call a locksmith. As far as the location of the key... no one knows.
Guess what, I did get it open later that afternoon using a credit card. My card is a little on the bent side. but i got in my room! YAY!!! Thanks for all the suggestions.

ok this is how i do it, if your bathroom door knob has a hole on it that you stick something like a tooth pick in it and it will open you know it worked when you hear a click.
if you have a key lock get a butter knife but be very careful with it when you have the knife go to the door and then stick the knife between the door and the locker and the wiggle it and it will open and you are back in

If the hinges are on the out side then you can knock the pins out with a screw driver and hammer, the door will come right out if not try the old credit card trick, Just like that person said slide the card into the gap centered up at the door knob. keep working it and it should slide between the lock it is round on that side. You said it was a cheap lock and you were not calling a lock smith Then go to the garage and get you a pipe wrench put it on the knob and turn it that will get you in for sure. And go to Lowes and buy you another one. I think it would be cheaper to let in to the old lock smith.

If its a standard bedroom/bathroom door lock look above all the door trim over the bedroom/bathroom for a small key that goes in the hole.If you find the key are a very small flat blade screwdriver...the piece inside looks like a screw head that the blade goes into and you turn it and that unlocks the door. Use a flash light to look in hole so you know where the blade should fit.Push the key/screwdriver in the hole level with knob and turn while pressing in until you find the slot and then turn and door will open.

if it is a yale type lock get hold of a 2 ltr. bottle of pepsi empty it cut out a 18 cm 60 cm square and use that to ease into the gap between the door & frame at the lock position working it will get you back in.
ps where is the key to the lock?

Does it have a hole in the middle of it? Most indoor locks do. You just need to find something small enough to put in the hole. There's a button inside the hole that will unlock the door when pushed. A bobby pin would work, or a nail, or something similar.

if it locks by pressing in a round piece then use a coat hanger, straighten it out and probe the hole until you find something solid and push on it to unlock it. if its a turn to lock then insert a small screw driver with a flat Head and turn it til it unlocks. hope that helps

Is there a hole in the door knob? If so just stick a nail in it, push then turn at the same time.
I did the same thing about a month ago

There should be a small hole in the middle of the knob where you can insert a pin

Obviously your computer is not in the bedroom!
Good thing.
All these are good answers. I'll keep it in mind, if this happens to me.
