At what age did your baby start walking?

I have a 71/2 month old baby boy. He can lean up and lift himself up and balance. I was wondering if he had much further to go for walking? Would like to know the average time for most babies...

11 months is average, but walking depends a lot on the childs build. Bigger children start walking later, because there is more weight to lift. Children with bigger heads start later too.

Anything from 9 months to 15 months is very normal. 8 months would be early.

Both of us were not walking until 13 - 15 months, but they were both big and had big heads.

Most kids start walking around 1 year. I've known some to start as early as 8 months and others not until 15 months. Sounds like your little guy is on the fast track. Is he walking around while holding furniture yet? Once he's moving around on his own it will only be a matter of a few weeks probably. I think my son was pretty cautious, he walked while holding things, or just took a couple steps at a time for almost two months before he was motoring around without any help. They're all different!

well my mother told me i started to walk when i was 24 months late bloomer lol. i have twin nephews they were premature and each one started walking at a different time. there now 12 months old one hasn't started walking yet, and the other is just WOW lol he is practically running now. there sisters, my nieces, one of them started walking at 10 months she was a handful when she started lol and as for the other one she took her first little steps on her birthday.

your baby boy, well if he's already lifting himself up at 71/2 months i think chances are by the time he's 10 or 11 months he'll be walking or maybe even sooner!

    GOOD LUCK : )

I don't have kids, but I know that most children begin to walk around 1 year of age. Some walk sooner, some a little later. Sounds like your baby is perfectly normal and will probably be walking a little on the sooner side!

while i don't have a child myself, with three friends all having babies within 6 weeks of each other [two years ago] i hear a lot about them and often wind up referring questions they might have to my mom due to her being an RN. i don't feel comfortable with giving the kids' names.

the average is 12 to 14 or 15 months.

when your little boy starts walking will probably depend on his personality, though it sounds like as far as being physically ready he doesn't have far to go.

the first one of the three kids to start walking did so at almost 10 months. the youngest i've heard of is 9 months, though both of them have highly outgoing, hard to intimidate personalities and are always wanting to move around. i'm not sure exactly when the younger two started walking, but youngest one started about 11 months, with the middle kid starting somewhere around 13-14 months.

the most timid kid i know didn't start walking independently until close to 2 years (though she started cruising sometime around 1 year).

That is around that same time my son started getting up on his own and holding on for dear life. Give it a few more month and he will be trying to walk on his own. I think around a year old was when I seen him started walking good on his own.

If he is pulling up and balancing, you don't have much of a wait. Once he does start to walk, he will be able to reach higher, make sure there is nothing low enough that you do not want him to get into.
