He's been a RINO for a long time. I don't think many people are that surprised. Biden has been working on him a long time.

Yes, I think that if he is changing parties, he should step down from his office and be replaced by a real Republican.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that he's changing parties to get re-elected. That isn't very admirable.

His hypocrisy knows no bounds. When Jumping Jim Jeffords switched parties back in 2001, Specter said loudly and publicly that an elected official should not be able to switch parties during the term.

Then again, he also said a month ago that he wouldn't be switching parties as it was too important to the country be be a two party government.

It just goes to show you what a lying, political whore Arlen Specter is.

Thank God and Greyhound he's gone.

Who wants a traitor in their corner?

Specter should fit right in with the Democrats.

If he will turn on his own party when the going gets rough he will turn on his own country too.

May God protect the American People and the Free World from the Democrat Party and Barack Hussein Obama.

May God enlighten Barack Hussein Obama’s misguided followers and let the see the real evil truth about Barack Hussein Obama.

Perhaps the people who voted party line on the ticket. Not the people who voted for the man and his principals (which, as he stated, are becoming less and less aligned with the Republican Party).

    He has changed parties before.

Lieberman did the same thing, but he waited until after he lost the Democratic primary in his state to become a third-party candidate.

Senators change party affiliations all the time. There were several Democratic Senators who changed to Republican in the mid 90's.

If the people of Pennsylvania don't like it, they will make sure Specter doesn't get re-elected.

Hmmmmmph....and if John McCain had won and Sarah Palin headed off to Washington to work for ALL the States, would that have been a misrepresentation of the Alaskans who voted for her to do the job of working day to day exclusively for Alaska?

You think they would have voted for her if she told them she would take off for 6 months to run for VP only to return to Alaska a loser followed by spending her time planning for a Presidential run instead of taking care of the Alaskan people's business?

Not really. Any Republican who voted for him probably wouldn't do it again given his voting record, and he knows it. The party switch was a desperate move designed to garner support of Democrats when reelection time comes around. He's interested in keeping his job, not the people who voted for him. Just another desperate politician.

Yes. I had some fun imagining all who sent him money to get together and sue for the return of those funds. He has more nerve than brains, he had a hissy when Jeffords left but he's only concerned with himself.

I think so. He said in his press conference that he didn't want his future to be determined by the Republican state party!? wow. Isn't that who's been determining his career and future up til now. Hypocrisy at its worth. But hey, I'm a dem so it's all good! lol

nope several have done it in the past including my senator...ben nighthorse campbell.

don't need anything - he won't start voting party lines - the man is 78 years old he isn't about to change from what he is.
