Cough, but no other symptoms?

I thought at first I had a cold. But then I realized that I didn't have any of the symptoms of the common cold but a cough. I also have a constant headache in my temporal area, but no stuffy nose, congestion, etc. No cough/cold medicine had any effect on me, and Motrin didn't help my headache. The cough I have really hurts and sometime it feels like my lungs are filled with so much phlegm that I can't breath until I cough it out. At one point it felt like I tore my throat up just coughing so much. What could this be, besides the common cold? I am almost 14 years old.

people who have asthma tend to cough phlegm up too - the fact that you said "that I can't breath until I cought it out" is a common known fact in the asthma world

Your headaches could be more or less serious - if you get those too much that is not a good thing at all..

Did you know that headaches are actually your brain being damaged? I found that out on a healthcast one night though it didn't surprise me much though I'm sure I'd get a lot of thumbs downs if I didn't say this.

Source(s): also there is such a thing as allergenic asthma.

How long has this been going on? If it's only a few days, you may not need to be concerned yet. However, you may want to tell your parents your lungs feel really congested. That can be a sign of a lung infection like bronchitis or pneumonia, or even tuberculosis. You need to be seen by a doctor, because they can examine and x-ray your chest, and run cultures if necessary to find what the actual problem is and treat it.

Its most likely sinus/allergies. I have the same thing. Get sinus medicine and it will make your headache go away and your cough!
