POLL: can 10 really ferocious dogs kill a lion/tiger?
lets take 10-12 really really big ferocious dogs(like alsatian,or other big ,wild dogs) ...what will happen if they figth with a lone tiger or a lion...
now if they figth with a young tiger ..there is no doubt that these 10 dogs will maul the young tiger..
but what if these guys square up against a fully grown one?? who will win?? ...will it be tough for the lion or tiger 2 win even if it does??
and btw..i am saying BIG DOGS LIKE dobberman.hunter dogs, wild dogs,alsatian..noy small ones like poodle, pommerian etc

In assumption the lion or tiger could not get away, which it would try... the dogs will win as long as they are large, quick and want to fight. No lion or tiger could handle that many dogs. Half the dogs will likely die during or after the fight but they will win.

I agree with Leolupus! Anyone else who thinks otherwise is a moron. Tigers and Lions are really large and powerful! Now if the Tiger or Lion was weak and malnourished, then probably... But even then, the dogs would still get badly injured. I can't believe some idiots actually think a pack of dogs could take on a Tiger or Lion... The only way for it to be possible is if the dogs had a Human with them, and if the Human shot the Tiger or Lion in the head. Other than that, NOPE! The dogs are screwed! No matter how big or strong the dogs are. Tigers and Lions are just WAY too big and powerful for them.

Rhodesian Ridgebacks were actually bred to track, chase, and hold Lions until the hunters arrived for the kill. They were never expected (and likely never would) kill a Lion on their own. The breed's swiftness and agility (to stay out of a Lion's reach) were prized over any attack/kill capability.
This information comes from Ridgeback breeder friends.
However, given the sheer numbers, I'd expect that 10 dogs could overcome a Lion/Tiger. It would be ugly all the way around, though.

I think if anything the lion and Tiger would just break the dogs legs with just one swipe, they do that with hyenas and they are also vicious. But I would say the Lion or Tiger would rather run away than stay and fight 10 Trained pitbulls. But if the Lion and Tiger were cornered with no way out, then I think the Lion & Tiger would win overall.

That's a tough call. Full grown tigers and lions have brute strength on their behalf. However, if this were a pack of wild dogs, sometimes strategy and numbers can conquer mere strength.
I think there would be a strong chance for these ferocious dogs to overcome the tiger or lion. However, there would be casualties.

have you ever heard of Caucasian Mountain dogs???... those dogs are tough and they were purposely bred to kill wolves and it is believed that they can even take on a bear. I think that three of these dogs can take on almost anything. They are heavy dogs around 180 pounds or even more and are really hairy . They are really ferocious when they detect a threat and protect their flocks to the death. I think there are many breeds of dogs that if they are in packs can take on a lion or tiger. Come to think of it there are some breeds that actually fought any kind of animals in the past even lions and tigers. Among these breeds that can take on a lion or tiger are tibetan mastiffs, kangals, bordeaux dogues, pittbulls, mastiffs, bully kutas, cane corsos, presa canarios, argentinian dogues, bull terriers, tosas, filas.

.well babes...its quite simple...10 big dogs will maul the poor lion or tiger..theres no chance for the lion/tiger..of course a few of these 10 dogs will die....but in the end..even the lion/tiger will die.....if not he/she will be seriously injured and will succumb 2 the injuries for sure...
dont underestimate dogs....if 10 of them attack a lion or a tiger..its game over for these animals who conisder themslves as king of jungle or what ever..they will be destroyed for sure by these 10 dogs

Big dogs or sheep dogs are about the size of wolves... some are even stronger than wolves... basically if u let 10 wolves fight a lion/tiger the wolves would definately win... In this case my bet is on the dogs.

the dogs. you probably wouldn't need that many either. a pack of hyenas will take a lions kill through sheer number and intimidation. If you have a pack of large hunting dogs, they would take a lone tiger or lion.
A Liger on the other hand would beat anything. It has skills in magic.

It happens today in Africa they use Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Yes, you have to remember that dogs have been used to take down bears, lions etc. for many, many years. It is said that 2 Akita's one boy one girl can easily take down a bear.
A Dogue De Bordeaux x10 would take down anything!...
