Batman vs Superman: Who do you like more and why, and who do you think is the greatest superhero ever?

Part 1: Which of these two iconic characters from the DC Universe do you like the more? The Dark Knight or The Man Of Steel? What are your reasons for your choice, aside from preference.

Part 2: Who do you think is the greatest superhero of all time?

I'm positive most of the people would choose between these two (Well actually, I think Batman will get 70% of the votes), but you may just say who you think is the best. It may include ANY superhero, from e.g Marvel, or anywhere!

Now keep this in mind before answering: I like Batman more than Superman, he's more interesting to me and my favorite character, but I put Superman over him as the greatest character ever conceived, because 1) He's was the first superhero, 2) He is an icon, the ultimate good guy etc. I'm not asking who you like the most, I'm asking who you think is the greatest (I guess, however, that the answer to both these questions would be the same in most cases).

    PART ONE: BATMAN

    =====================

    In one aspect the idea of Batman is the closest thing we could currently have to a hero in the real world. In the comic universe, if you read the Identity Crisis you learn that every hero except Batman was up to shady brainwashing on criminals. When Batman found out it took almost all of them to stop him, which is why Batman ended up becoming more recluse than he was and solely trust those in his Gotham circle.

    In Kingdom Come he was passionate even in his old age about stopping crime where the boy in blue gave up. Even in the end of the series Batman was playing double agent and in my opinion was the tactical win for Superman.

    Also do keep in mind, Batman secures Kyptonite within his cave because one must consider the effects of Red Kyptonite and/or Superman could be mind controlled. Making Batman the underdog who ultimately comes out on top.

    Lastly given his array of abilities and mindset makes him a far more interesting character which is shown in every aspect possible given his unique line up of villains that are perhaps the most interesting ones any hero has to go up against.

    PART TWO: GREEN LANTERN (Hal Jordan)

    ====================================

    The Man with no Fear, is on line with the best of the best in terms of strength. But where he excels as the greatest is given his trials. Being affected by Parallax and going on a killing spree including destroying the Green Lantern Corps of Oa made him a most powerful villain. Yet he overcame that, and sought redemption by sacrificing his own life to save the entire planet.

    Only to reemerge as The Spectre, and become the spirit of vengeance. It only gives more merit to the type of character that is Hal Jordon to have been chosen as such. But his role did not end there as he was given a 2nd chance of life, and once more he is The Green Lantern.

    From hero to villain then to host of the magical spirit of vengeance only to come back as a hero. Nothing will stop that man from reaching even greater heights. Outcasted as he in Oa this does not stop him from fulfilling his duties as a GL. He has no fear and everything to fight for, his willpower is unparalleled to any other hero in any universe. And that is what makes him the greatest, and given the fact 2009 is the year of the Blackest Night comic run. We will see even more from the great Hal Jordon.

    =====>My personal favorites

    Nightwing, The Question, Doctor Fate

    Because I have a thing for the underdogs, the ones who don't shine so bright. They remind me of me, which I find is most important in a comic book when the reader can find some connection to the hero.

    1)Batman, because seriously, I think Superman is kind of a dick & he's got it too easy. He sure was in his Silver Age comics. I know Batman has changed since those days, but from what I've heard, Superman hasn't. I like Batman because he's realisticly flawed & has to do things the hard way. I also like that he's gone batshit crazy over the years. Also, the vomic book Joker is my favorite villain, although Lex is pretty cool. Batman is a very complex person who has to balance intence emotional baggage & his relentless sence of duty. I used to hate his phony Bruce Wayne persona, but now that they're trying to replace him, I take it back, I only want Bruce as the Bat!

    2)Superman on this one, since his speed allows him to save more people & he could hold up an toppling building until the area was cleared or hold up a snapped bridge until all the cars were safely across. Batman is pretty much the lone Asylum Cop, sticking to one place & a small group within it, making him a bit like a superbabysiter, superjaniitor, or superparole officer.

    Part 1:

    Batman: His mental abilities make him a hero who does more than overpower his opponents. Not only that but he's a hero simply because he wants to be. He's an ordinary human who gives everything he has to stop crime knowing he'll have to do it again tomorrow.

    Part 2: The greatest superhero would have to be Spider-man. As one man puts it, he's been through hell and back and keeps fighting. He's not as powerful as Superman, or as inspirational as Captain America. He's not well liked or well respected. His hero work earns him nothing but heartache. Yet in the end he overcomes it all. He'll keep fighting till he can fight no more.

    Now (for the sake of transparency) my favorites: I like Batman better than Superman and Wolverine is my favorite comic book hero. So that's my view.

    I like Batman more and it has nothing to do with him but in fact in his supporting cast, i love the Batman villains and the Bat Family they are all really cool and interesting, and it is so true that it is the supporting cast that truly makes Batman who he is.

    Superman however is the greatest hero of all time, he was the first true superhero and stands for everything that is good, Superman is the kind of person who all people should strive to be.

    Batman. His character seems more complex and all around more interesting.

    Superman is generic. Laser eyes, super speed flight, super strength? Belongs on a Wheaties box or something. Breakfast of Champions anyone...?

    ______

    Batman for all around too ( too lazy to think of any other). Seems like if you give the guy 30 minutes, he'll come out and save the world every time.
