tanning bed question....?

Okay... I know I know... tanning is not good for you... so if you are going to comment about that save your time... go tell someone else....

I am only wanting to tan for 1 month... so i'll be tan before an event...

so my question is... how many times a week should I go and how long?? I know I'll probably get answers once I get to the salon but I just want to get an idea...

is it possible to get a tan on a lvl 1-2 tanning bed whithin my time limit??

DO IT! DO IT! DO IT!!!!

i actually just started going tanning and i am on my third week. at first the results were slow but after two weeks people were saying i looked really really tan (plus i live in so cal where most people are very tan). everyone has noticed because i am usually extremely pale, like casper the ghost. for the first week i went 3 times in a row at 5-6 min each, skipped a day, and then went 3 days straight again at 6-7 min, etc. i did this for prom which is june 6th and got a one month all access for $99 and expires june 3rd. im telling u...best investment ever. i have so much confidence now and i love it! definitely recommend it. but the people at the salon tell me how long to go in for and set that time on the machine for you so they handle that part. go for it!!!! except after a week and a half cover your face with a towel every other time so your nose and chin do not get too dry or red. you will absolutely be dark way before the month is over. i had my doubts at first because i barely noticed a difference after like 5 sessions and then POW! i got tan fast!!!the trick is to constantly apply lotion at night and in the morning to prevent your skin from drying out. good luck and have fun at your big event!!!!

I actually work at a tanning salon so I know whats best.

You can go every other day and each time you go you can increase the ammount of time you go in each time. But if you burn stay at the same time or go down. If you get burnt badly wait 3-4 days to come back. In the ten minute beds you should start out at 4-5 minutes and increase. In the 15 minute beds you can go for 5-6. In the 12 minute stand ups you can start at 5-6. In the 8 minute stand up you can start at 3. In the 12 minute bed you can start at 3. Each time you go you can increase your time from 2-3 minutes depending on how well your skin took to the exposure. If you want color quick you can get a lotion with a bronzer, if you want to accelerate your tan you can use a lotion with an accelerator. Oh and with the bronzers depending on your skin tone the higher the bronzer you can get. Like if you are fair get a low bronzer and if you are already dark you can get a strong bronzer. This is because you will turn orange and or streaky if you use a strong bronzer when you have fair skin.

    Hope this helps!

I usually tan for about a month in the spring and I go 6 days a week for about 10 minutes a day. It depends alot on the quality of the tanning bulbs, too. Like you said, the salon will have tell you how long you should stay in.

Start out for 10 min (light skin) or 12 min (darker skin)

then increase by two every other session

    Ex:

    Monday- 10 min

    Tuesday- 10 min

    Wednesday- off

    Thursday- 12 min

    Friday- off

    Saturday- 12min

    Sunday- 14 min

That is if you want to go tanning a lot and get the best results. If you do it this way you might want to get an unlimited package.

I've heard you're more likely to get skin cancer sitting in the sun than laying in a tanning bed, so don't even worry about it. People are just saying that sh*t based off movies and crap. Go 2-3 times a week. And of course you can, maybe go 3 times if you go on a level 1/2 bed.

Okay, i wasn't going to comment anything, but some uneducated person ticked me off. People don't base it off of "movies and stuff". Its a pretty proven fact tanning gives you skin cancer. I've had skin care professionals come to my school and talk about how tanning booths are worse for you than going outside because of the oils/lotions and what-not. Those are people who actually know what they're talking about. That person is an idiot.

But as for you, its your body and you can do what you want with it. But skin cancer or leathery skin isn't something i find attractive.

Usually you have to tan every other day or at least once a week, with level two tans and that will work fine. You have to go to about ten sessions and you will look amazing. I do it for special occasions but I definitely don't recommend it.

okay so i am doing the exact same thing you are

you can probably get a few tones darker with one and two...but you reeeaallly need to get tanning lotion bc it will get you so much darker faster...i know its pretty expensive but you can get it online for cheaper...and it makes you darker bc when you tan dry you are only getting about 30% of the rays and when you have the lotion on you get the full affect plus it has bronzer in it:)

If it's just for an event you could get a spray tan.

    three words: stand up booth.

if the even it in one month, tan once this week, twice next week, three times the third week, so on. exfoliate before you tan, moisturize everyday. jergens natual glow is great.
