I think that the scientific understanding is that homosexuality isn't a gene, but a result of the levels of hormones a child is subject to during their mother's pregnancy.

It is definitely not a choice.

Think about it, if you chose to be gay, you face discrimination (not just from certain theists, but all through school etc.) so why would you "choose" to be gay, if you weren't gay naturally?

Can all you straight Christians honestly say that if God didn't exist (yes, we know, we wouldn't be here... but let's try to pretend) you would have same sex relationships? Of course not, because it's in built.

Some people prefer blondes, some people prefer brunettes, some people like skinny people, some like fat people, some people are attracted to white people, some to black people and some to Asians. So why is it inconceivable to think that maybe some men are just attracted to men and some women to women?

Oh, good grief! Are you still stuck on the nonsense binary of gene/conscious choice? Who cares whether there's a genetic component to being gay? It's blindingly obvious to the meanest intelligence that it's not a 'choice' ; absolutely no-one makes a conscious choice to be gay, or straight for that matter.

The inconclusive research in all directions really tells us that there is no simple 'cause' of homosexuality any more than there is a simple 'cause' of heterosexuality. Please start trying to think in more sophisticated way.

First yes I still believe that it is possible that some if not all are born that way. However, I am aware that research has not conclusively proven it yet... They also have not disproved it. No matter how a gay because a gay those is not the argument, the argument is equal rights and separation between state and church.

Have you read your own cited webpage? It quotes the APA as saying "no findings have emerged that permit scientists to conclude that sexual orientation is determined by any particular factor or factors." That means it remains entirely possible that homosexuality is biologically determined.

So the part where the website claims "An American Psychological Association publication includes an admission that there's no homosexual 'gene'" - that's a baldfaced lie. The APA made no such admission.

I spent 30 years praying that God would take this "curse" from me... I went through ex-gay therapy, exorcism, and years of counseling... NOTHING worked. It was only when I asked God why, and He answered that He created me to serve Him as I was, that I found peace. God created me as I am to serve His purpose. Whether or not science finds a cause for homosexuality is irrelevant to me. I know God created me gay to serve His will. Nothing else matters.

More lies from Christians, that is not what the APA has stated at all.

Once again science is twisted just to try and suit a religious agenda.

Why don't you post the official findings from the APA?

I'm not really up to date on the whole gay gene thing, but since when were psychologists geneticists?

    Just wondering.

Your link relates a misreading/misunderstanding of the APA's paper, which does not comment on current genetic research.

As far as I know research is still continuing.

Now what would American Psychological Association know about genes and what genes do what?
