Average lifespan of a cat?
Hi I am wondering what the average lifespan of a domesticated house cat would be, and what it would be if it were really well take care of.
Thanks!

Cats can live to be in their twenties! It all depends if they are indoor or outdoor animals. A good diet, regular visits for vaccinations and teeth cleaning , exercises and LOTS of love is all they need.

Feral - 2-7 years
Outdoors only but cared for - can live up to 16 (many cases reported on here)
Indoor and outside and cared for can live well over 16
We had a crazy cat lady in my old house, she had over 50 that she fed, none were vaccinated but all were fixed, she fed them cheap food and they roamed the whole neighbourhood. She had them all from under a year ie kitten, and when the SPCA came, some were already over 15 years old and still in good shape, so you never can tell.
All the numbers are approximations, since nobody on this earth knows the lifespan of every cat on earth to make an accurate generalisation.

A cat's life span is generally around 14 years but by keeping the cat indoors and taking excellent care of it can greatly increase the life of your cat to anywhere between 25 to 32 years.

It depends on the lifestyle of the cat
A stray usually 3-5 yrs
however if you keep it indoors
feed it good food
excercises
make sure it gets shots
Is spayed / nuetered
then a cat can live up to and maybe past 20
average lifespan is more like 10 -15yrs

I had 3 cats that in recent years died, they were 22.20, and 19. I grew up with all those cats and now have one 9. All were spayed or neutered and went to vet at least once a year for shots.

about 18 years old. that is what I read in the cats section in the wickpedia. Google Cat, and see what it says for life expectancy.

Fed a healthy diet, annual vet visits for checkups, to the vet whenever it's sick or injured, kept indoors - a cat can live 15-20 years.
Fed cheap crappy food, no vet visits, allowed to free roam - 2-5 years.
Miki - your "math" makes no sense. Cats don't have nine lives nor is it nine human years for every cat year http://www.bettycat.com/home/ages.html
