Is this at a young age?

My cat -er- kitten is pregnant. At seven months. My mom thinks it could kill her, since, like I said, she is only seven months. If anyone knows ANYTHING, please answer. Thanks soo much!

Update:

Everyone has to understand right here and quick that I love my cat sooo much, I mean I cry if I kill an ant! I am not going to have an abortion on my cat! I didn't want this, and it isn't my fault! I never saw this coming, I mean seven months? Wait she is 8 months, and she will be nine months when she delivers, is that batter?

Update 2:

I cannot get her spayed already! She is already pregnant! We wanted her pregnant like in one year, but not now. I love her soo much, and we didn't see it coming.

Update 3:

Hello! I am so not gonna have an abortion on my cat's kittens!

Update 4:

J C: It is not my fault. She is 8 months and you see, no one thinks of a kitten being in heat or pregnant. I am not selfish, because if I was, then I would go for the abortion, which I am so not.

Black Cat: Thank you. You are being very supportive and made me stop cry for the nice things you said.

Update 5:

Roxigin: Thanks to you for making me breathe A LOT easier. I just am watching her sleeping by my feet and wondering about the chances. And if anyone else answers and talks about abortion, in me making my cat have one, leave. =] God Bless.

Update 6:

This kitten is a wild cat. She came to us, and we happened to keep her. Like I have been saying, not my fault, it is no one's. Please I need support here, I love her, and I would hate so much to see something happen to her. =]

She is rather young at seven months but i had a cat once who delivered kittens at six months so it is possible but risky,

but my vet told me an abortion was more risky and that i could lose the mother and babies so that is why i let her continue with the pregnancy(plus i am against abortions),i will probably get a thumbs down now for saying this but its what a qualified vet advised me,

the complications that can happen are her pelvis could be to narrow for her to have a natural birth but my cat managed ok,

and you and take her to the vet for regular checks during her pregnancy so she can be monitered, so the vet can decide wether she will need a c-section,

if you like you may e-mail me if you need to ask more or need support.

Kittens as young as 4 months old have been known to get pregnant.

Your cat is still young (under a year) and at higher risk for complications or possible c-section to deliver the kittens. Emergency c-sections can be $1,000 or more! Hopefully she will not have problems, but there is a very good chance she will.

At her age, she may or may not know what to do as far as cleaning them, cutting cords, and nursing, so you could become the mom and have to bottle feed kittens 24/7 every few hours for a few weeks.

She SHOULD have been spayed by the time she was 6 months old (3-4 months old is really ideal to do it).

If she survives the pregnancy/delivery, then keep her inside and do not let her outside until she is spayed. She should be spayed when the kittens are about 8 weeks old. Keep the kittens for 10-12 weeks before you rehome them.

You said it was not your fault.

You also said "She is 8 months and you see, no one thinks of a kitten being in heat or pregnant. "

If you had taken your cat to the vet when she was about 3 or 4 months old, the vet would have explained about spaying the cat, at what age she could get pregnant, when you should have the spay done, that if you didn't do it and allowed her outside, chances were good that she would get pregnant.

A vet would have told you all about this and more.

Also, it would appear that you did not do any research before or after getting a cat. It is the responsibility of people getting any type of animal as a pet to learn what needs to be done at what ages.

This whole thing was controllable, she need not have gotten pregnant.

Now that she is pregnant, have you gone to Google and started researching what you need to know and do as the pregnancy develops?

Have you done anything to learn what will be needed when the kittens are born?

I suspect you've done none of this because had you looked for information earlier, you would have know that cats can get pregnant as young as 5 or 6 months

This situation is your fault and you should admit so.

A seven month old cat is a bit young to be having kittens.

You need to have your cat examined by a vet who can advise you as to whether it will be safe for the pregnancy to be allowed to term.

    Do you have a vet?

Are you going to be able to afford the first few vet visits for up to 8 or more kittens?

Figure on a bill for the first visit of about $300 for a litter of 4 or 5 kittens and maybe $450 for 6 or 7 kittens - those prices might actually be low, I don't know where you live and how much vets there charge.

Those prices are for an exam, first vaccinations, and deworming medicine.

There are additional vaccinations the kittens will need a few weeks after the first vet visit.

Then there will be he cost of spaying or neutering the kittens. A spay can cost you from $50 to $150. A neuter could be from $30 to $90 - again, those prices may be low compared to the prices in your area.

Can you afford all of that and any other care the kittens may need?

Then you will have to find homes for all them. Can you find homes for 6 kittens.?

I didn't ask if you think you can find homes, CAN you find homes for them?

The choice if yours, but you have to be prepared to weigh all options. The best solution in this kind of case for the cat, would be to abort the kittens. It sounds horrible, but it really is what will be best for your cat and for your pocket book. If such a young cat has these kittens and has complications, you are looking at a ton of money for a C-Section and various other Vet bills. You also have to be able to be there all day for weeks in the event that the mother needs help feeding her babies, and to make sure that they are being fed.

Do you know how big the father is? If he was a big cat, you are even more likely to have birthing complications.

I understand where you have moral and emotional issues with aborting the kittens, so why don't you make a Vet appt and discuss all options with your vet. Your Vet will be able to tell you what the chances are and offer advice. You don't want to risk losing your cat.

So you'd rather risk the cat you love dying than get her spayed? Consider this - at her age, the chance of her needing an emergency c-section to deliver her kittens is very great. The cost at my local emergency vet? Up to $2700. Do you have that kind of money, or are you just going to sit and cry when she dies because she has a kitten stuck in the birth canal? Your mom is right - giving birth could kill her. At best, you're jeopardizing her future health by allowing her to be pregnant. She's supposed to be fueling her own growing body, not a litter of kittens!

Yes, it is your fault. Who allowed an unspayed cat outdoors, anyway? If not your fault, then whose fault is it? We are responsible for the animals in our care. The responsible thing is to get her spayed. Be an adult, listen to your mom. Chose the right thing for her. Risking her life is a selfish thing to do, and not in her best interests.

roxigin - no responsible breeder allows a cat to breed at that age! Only back yard breeders do. Ethical responsible breeders actually care about the health of their queens, and won't breed until they are a minimum of a year old, preferably 18 months. Cats need time to grow and mature before giving birth - it's like a 12 year old human having a baby!

My cat had her first litter of kittens when she was about that age. Now let me add very quickly that this was before she came into my care! Shes had no litters since shes been under my care. She "belonged" to someone else and she was confiscated by the rspca, and then i rehomed her. Its a long story but I know exactly where she came from, and thats how I know about her history.

Anyway, obviously having the kittens didnt kill her, but all the kittens died.

Its not a nice thing to do, but if you want to save your cat, get her spayed now. yes, the kittens will be aborted, but its highly unlikely that they will survive anyway if she carries the pregnancy full term. And although my cat didn't die, thats not to say yours wont.

This litter of cats can kill your kitten. Have her spayed now. It's ridiculously unfair to her to have kittens at this age. If you want a kitten then go to any shelter, vet's office, or classifieds section. There are TONS of unwanted kittens. Don't be irresponsible by letting your kitten risk her life to bring more kittens into this world.

It's not advisable to have kittens so young. Good thing is most vets will spay pregnant cats (which aborts the pregnancy). Call up your vet and schedule her appointment now.

first many breeders will breed a cat at this age it is young yes but if she was a stray she would still be having these kittens . you do not need to abort . But you do need to provide good care switch her to a kitten food , gradually over a week or so and keep her on it for the duration of pregnancy and nursing. . have her health checked at a vet . but this is a normal part of cat life. many cats come into their first heat as young as 5 months . if taken care of she will be fine . just make sure to monitor her during delivery and after to make sure her milk is there. make sure to pay her after the kittens are born before she has another heat

didn't anyone see her cat is 8 months old any breeder would have bred this cat at this point ask a vet they will tell you she is fine . search online there are a lot of sites that will help with info on the birth and delivery or e mail me with any questions

Source(s): I breed cats and have an excelent vet.

Hmmm! He fairly had you on did not he? Yes that is real approximately the anti divorce tradition in India however its fitting increasingly appropriate as many women married "foreigners" and learned that they weren't handled appropriately after they bought to the "overseas" nation via their new husbands. (Foreign on the whole supposed the UK or USA) such a lot of ladies controlled to go back to India on a few pretext or different after which bought divorced. It is now typical in Bombay (Mumbai) to discover many divorcees and in case you fairly aren't in love along with your husband, not ever had been or not ever shall be, then whether or not he likes it or now not you must get out. You did a dull factor via marrying to support any one out of a quandary however you'll have bought all of your data from the Indian High Commission in Aldwych earlier than doing so. Marriage is for romance and for continues. Its a tragic quandary however I can not fairly suppose sorry for you in view that I suppose you need to have had a few emotions toward him and in addition you need to have had a household that voiced their approval or disapproval of the sort of fit. If you had been headstrong and did not pay attention on your household then all I can say is that you simply bought what you deserved. I simply desire and pray that there are not any kids concerned on this marriage. Indian guys not often categorical their love for his or her better halves. They aren't quite often as romantic because the Mediterraneans and a few however now not all Englishmen.
