Does it help when the asker says "10 POINTS"?
I see a lot of folks that will add stuff like "10 points for best answer!" like that's supposed to get me excited about answering their question.
What's the deal with that, anyway?

I'm pretty old,Old School from back in the day when most folks entered a bike shop thru the back door.
I was fortunate to have a bunch of excellent Help getting started.
Reason I do THIS now days,,is because I'll Never be able repay it forward ,,not even a Fraction of all the help I was granted.
Really the reason I answered your question,,was to take the opportunity to commend you on the very fine contribution you make here trying to help others with their bike probs & questions.
A Forum like this is as close as most of these folks will ever get to being able to "Walk into shop thru back door,,and get expert advice."
Being the Internet,,,it's all Bound to get Goofy.
To me,,,that only makes it all seem more like life in a Real Shop.
You've been around,,you know what I mean..lol

The reality is that there are so many inane, pointless questions on here that they don't want their query to be passed over and ignored.(as it most time should be). On a personal note IMHO the younger people spend so much effort trying to be individualistic, they all start to look, act and speak the same. They attempt to override this by trying to escalate "standing out" in some way.
Go figure,.... future used cart salesmen.

what's this doing interior the Philippines section? the asker can supply the ten pts to whomever he/she deemed the acceptable answer! he/she will might desire to attend approx 30 minutes or as a fashion to make that selection. if the asker do no longer make any selection then it is going to a vote..

Anytime a question is asked the best answer is supposed to get 10 points, but so many people neglect that issue once they find the answer they wanted, its like they say "thanks, now sc$ew you". But we all can get even, we can go over to the "undecided questions section" and select our own best answers, from all those that decided to try and help an inconsiderate individual out.

Not really. For the most part, you have to ignore that because you rarely ever see the asker choose a best answer to begin with.

It does seem to be the younger set that do this.
I try to keep that little point in mind when I answer.
Since I don't do this for points, that's the only difference it makes to me.

Some people are really desperate for an answer and try to lure people with bait i guess.
I wouldn't give a better answer with or without that in it i answer equally.
