Advice on making beer bread?

I found an old recipe for beer bread and have two questions.

3 cups sifted self-rising flour

3 T. sugar

12 oz. bottle of beer

Mix. Dump in loaf pan prepared with non-stick spray. Bake 45 mins. in 375 degree oven.

If I only have all purpose flour, do I need to add baking powder? Any ideas how this would work with Sam Adams Octoberfest malt ale?

For each cup of all-purpose flour, add 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.

As long as you like the taste of Sam Adams Octoberfest malt ale, it'll be fine. Remember this rule: never cook with an alcohol that you would not drink. This goes for beer, wine, and liquor. When you cook with alcohol, you cook out the water thus intensifying the flavor of whatever you used.

I have no idea. You can buy the mix at Tastefully Simple parties. All you have to do is add beer. It is awesome.

I wouldn't think you need baking powder because of ingredients in beer, but I'm not 100% sure on that.
