my 9 month old refuses to eat anything but....?
my daughter is nine months old, she started eating baby food alittle late, about 6 months old. Anyway she had a hard time at first but after awhile she was doing great with it. Her favorites were actually green beans and peas she wanted nothing to do with anything else not even sweet potatoes. Well for the past 2 1/2 weeks she has been on what i like to call the 'sweet potatoe diet' she refuses to eat any other kind of vegetable or protein if i put anything else in her mouth she just makes herself gag it back out..somethings even throws up right there in the highchair (shes a drama queen already lol) anyways does anyone have ANY advice on what i should do about this? i mean she eats fruits without preference i dont know i just need some advice PLEASE!
thank you

Some babies at this age start rebelling against pureed food and are much more intersted in self-feeding. This may not help, but I think it is worth trying - you can even start with mashed sweet potato, just put some on her tray and let her scoop it up - and if she does, try adding a few other foods. Whole peas are a great on, and small chunks of chicken. And of course you can also do ripe fruits this way....I think finger foods are defnitely worth trying.

LOL, it's a phase. Lucky it's sweet potatoes though, they nutritious and are very high in vitamin A..my son was stuck on bananas for awhile, bunged up like crazy lol. I would try offering her some fruit and veggie blends. It's amazing how pears and carrots can be very palatable to babies. Even green beans and apples. I know it sounds odd but it worked for me during the fussy phase, now they eat anything.

I agree with emmy. Give her what she likes and slowly mix it with more of a green veggie. If not she will eventually get a orange tint to her skin called Carotenemia from eating only orange veggies. But she will eventually start to like to greens if you just keep trying and mixing them with something she likes. Don't let her beome a picky eater now or she will stay that way!! :-) I had to do the same thing helping out with the babies in my family and now that I have a son, I'm sure I'll be doing the same thing with him! Good luck!

first of all you didn't start late, 6 month is the right age to start solid food that's the recent recommendation of WHO. my baby is almost 9 month old now she's also a picky eater,,like she hates Gerber banana & unfortunately most of the 2nd food is mixed with banana so i'd do whatever i can to distract her while i feed her like hold out a toy that has lights or motion to grap her attention or sing loudly ,do animal sounds sometimes i start acting like a clown
but one thing i learned never go too far & get greedy to feed her the whole container when she start gagging that means it's time to stop
so bear with her a little bit & eventually she will start liking other foods

A person has to try a food seventeen times before they develop a taste for it...so you probably gave up too quickly in the begining. I'd go with what the first answerer suggested and just keep trying.

If he's still breastfeeding don't worry about it. He's probably just going through a phase or teething or something and doesn't want to eat much solid food at the moment.

Just feed her right now what she is willing to eat and then start adding in a different kind of vegetable with what you are already feeding her and go from there. add in more and more and maybe she will get used to it. She will eventaully take more but sometimes they get on kicks where they only want certain things.

Mix it all together:) If she needs green beans, peas, carrots etc just mix it in with the sweet potato with the majoity of it being sweet potato.

I would try table foods- BTW 6 months is not late, it's the recommended time to start. start steaming veggies and giving ger soft fruits and meats to gum
