How rough are doormen actually allowed to be?
I was leaving the club the other night when another man picked a fight with me because I was in the club with his ex girlfriend. This man swung for me but because he was really drunk, he missed/I dodged. From here, I pushed the man to the ground to prevent further attack. As soon as this happened, 2 door staff had rugby tackle me and pushed me to the ground allowing the other man to get away. There slammed my head to the floor and kept me there for about 15 minutes until the police got there. I tried to remain as calm as possible throughout the ordeal. I have woken up this morning with lumps and bruises on my face (where they pushed me to the ground) and my arms where they held me on the ground. I was just wondering what right do they have to this because now its now nearly a day later and I am having long painful headaches from where I was hit in the back of the head by the door staff.
I was just wondering if I should let it blow over or do something about it because I am now injured and in pain for defending myself.

I feel that some doormen take advantage of their power and position, ages ago i read a magazine article on this and there was so many examples of when bouncers had beat not only men, but women as well. Strangely enough i attended a school social on tuesday and the witness a bouncer actually grab boys and throw them out to the ground because they had no i.d...for a SCHOOL SOCIAL, he started on me and my friends as well(i'd actually left my purse at home and only brought my money! damn!), screaming the place down...stupid man...it's a school event...they should know half the people coming are going to be teens!
So overall, i think some doormen are way too violent and are so because they know they can get away with it.

If I was you I would organize a meeting with the manager, explain the situation, give him your 'solicitors' details and he'll likely want to come to a compromise, probably free vip when ever you want and free drinks at the club or maybe some cash.
You don't even need a lawyer but just pretending you do will scare him, make sure the wounds/bruises are still fresh and visible to add to your claims, i would take pictures now

If the doorman only saw u pushin this bloke to the ground then it is not a surprise they restrained u, They are allowed to use reasonable force the same as the police can. I would get ur head checked by the drs

While ^ is kind of right, u are highly unlikely to achieve anything. Considering u technically assaulted that guy as he hadn't hit you, even tho he tried to hit u. Bouncers can do whatever they want ( they once broke a mates arm) because its easy for them to get away with it, your drunk and they are trained to restrain people. The police won't care too much either because they would simply see you as a drunk. Consider yourself lucky they didnt do worse.

They can only be rough enough to disarm the situation..once things are calm they have no reason to do anything.
Id try claim, you'd could have a good case, talk to the police first though

What they did is really not okay!! Yes, go to the doctor and then contact police and tell them about the doormen and the man who jumped you.

Before anything, go to the doctors.
What did you tell the police?
Depending on the doctors bill, you may have a small claims case.
