Shouldn't we put more emphasis on State gov'ts instead of the Fed?

Why not put the states in charge of their own social programs like health care, social security, and welfare. Have the people vote in each state whether or not to actually have any of these programs.

This would create competition between states and force them to lower taxes and give incentives to bring jobs to the state.

The federal gov't can be in charge of the military budget and well that's it.

Update:

I know it won't happen with our current politicians, why would they give up their power.

As for Texas, yes it is a great example of a right to work state not burdened by special interest programs like California. The difference is almost black and white. Success and Failure.

Update 2:

itsamini....Yes I know a lot of it is state run but you said it yourself that the gov't mandates it. This is exactly what I'm talking about getting rid of all that.

Update 3:

Brown... Sure why not? What works in some places won't work in others. Why did the Germans eventually lose WW2? It was the inability of the small units on the ground to make battlefield decisions without continually calling their superiors.

Update 4:

Travel... Like I've been saying what works in one area may not in others. Liberals who want to spread the wealth can lobby a state to inact laws to do so.

i agree with all what you said , states should stand up for their states' rights .

Washington's involvement in everything from land use to gun control to education spending is not acceptable , it's a clear violation to the 10th amendment

...the god news is , At least 35 states have introduced legislation this year asserting their power under the Tenth Amendment to regulate all matters not specifically delegated to the federal government by the Constitution.

Yes , you're right again ..and i'm telling you ; This has been boiling for years, With TARP and No Child Left Behind, these things that continue to give the federal government more authority, sates' rights are being turned on their head .

there are some exceptions here , some issues of a certain size and scope should be addressed only by an institution with the resources of the federal government.

Yes there is is a Constitutional justification for Congress's recent efforts to stabilize our economy , the degree to which Congress regulates issues within their boundaries, using the interstate commerce clause to regulate just about everything and anything, is not acceptable and unconstitutional at the same time .

i can provide many examples of how states' rights are being violated every day , but i guess you seem to know about the subject , so never mind

if you're interested in the subject , i urge you to visit "TenthAmendmentCenter.com" ...it's very informing

    good luck

The really poor people who don't vote suffer like they do under govs like Sanford & Jindal who don't give a crap about them. This eventually hurts the country. We are getting a whole lof of poor people in these states now & it is going to bring down education & bring up crime. There are many reasons. Competition hurt people more than it helps them. Co-operation & wholistic living is what we need in this country. Look at how TX tried to pull away from the country & then the swine flu hit & they looked like fools. I live in a state that is doing very well cause we have a lot of liberals. We have one of the cities that was known to be the worst in the country (Baltimore) but we have some counties that are so rich & so strong that this helps others surrounding areas. I live in a conservative county that has looked dried up & dead. A few weeks ago contruction projects started to be worked on again. The county over that is a lib county is so healhy that I drive there to do my handyman business. That area is booming. I will go in & spray wash a deck then come back the following week & paint it & the person will give me a check for $500 & a hundred dollar tip. So while I live in a great area what about the poor people who who have Jindal for a gov. We shouldn't shut these people out we need to help others & know that others are helping us too. To cut off a part is like the body saying it doesn't need it's feet cause it has it's brain. Without the feet we fall. United we stand divided we fall.

In a way they already are. It's mandates from both parties that come down without funding bankrupting states right now like S Chip program, no child left behind, and environmental standards. In my state the cap and trade fear has shut down coal mining to a stand still. It is cheaper for the multi nationals to use Australian coal shipped on barges and burn it in Mexico transferring power over a grid instead of mining it in Kentucky and burning it in a power plant in PA or OH. The Carbon pollution still gets in the atmosphere and it's more but we get no benefits from jobs in my state. The Power Plants and Refineries in America were already the most environmental friendly in the world, instead of making ours better how about we pull the rest of the worlds up to our standards and keep jobs here.

The S Chip program is a crock even if it is meant to be a good thing. Providing health care to children is a good thing if thier parents can't but each state should set standards not the FEDS. In Kentucky you can stretch a dollar longer and farther than in CA or NY or even TX but the incomes limits are the same for all states. Like 80% of all kids in KY qualify so parents don't buy health insurance programs at work and the state picks up the tab. We are bankrupt over that program alone. CA has it's own issues and being right to work has little to do with it. We are not a right to work state in KY but the most profitable and effienct auto factories in the world are here, Toyota Georgetown and Corvette Bowling Green. Our wages aren't crazy high either.

Most of the States in the Union are in debt. Kids across the country and being graduated from high school without being able to read (by the way education is currently controlled by states and localities). Soldiers are given food stamps to pay for food. Police taser college kids for agreeing with a former presidential candidate, while they are taking a break from beating up minorities. Please tell me one more time that States are better than the Federal government at anything. Oh please. I think that I should control healthcare, not Hillary or Obama or McCain. I think that I should be able to decide whether I want or do not want insurance and which plan I should get, not the governor or the state legislature.

You have just entered the Republican Zone.

Most social progams are state programs.

Unemployment is a state run social progarm.

    Schools are also state run.

The biggest problem there is the Federal Government mandates programs but does not fund them, leaving the states with the bill.

Louisiana already has it's own charity health care system.

Visit Texas and you will see a state with a balanced budget, jobs, good health care and no state income tax. It's called federalism. Rights to the states. Obama trying to do away with federalism and take away states rights. More power to the federal government in Washington.

AAHHHH! What a great country we live in. HEY?

That's right I agree that doing away with the federal governments authority any place and every place that we can. It is time for the states to govern them self's again and be independent like they are suppose to be. If that means a few roads wont be maintained then so be it. If it means we will have schools with split classes again then so be it.

It is time to take back our sovereignty.

Yours is a good idea. With the left wing liberal loony Democrats running everything. It won't happen.

Actually that is the way it's supposed to be under the constitution, but taht document seems to be inconvenient anymore.
