Most of the time it's normal. But, if it continues to happen and the cat isn't eating or drinking. That's when it's time to see a veterinarian about it.

Clear or white froth is usually just drunk water.

Yellow is bile from an empty stomach that's still producing digestive acids.

Full pieces of dry cat food with 'slime' on them means the cat ate too fast and threw up because of that.

Half digested food with brown sludge means the stomach is upset.

    Hairball---a no brainer.

Brown sludge, the remains of food that digested, but the stomach still was quezzy for them.

Pink--means there's blood in the stomach and the cat needs to see a vet.

More than 2 of the clear, yellow or brown a day means you need to phone the vet and ask them if the cat needs to be looked at.

Source(s): Added-- Constant heaving, several times in half an hour, with dry heaves, in obvious state of stress, that's when you have a danger sign happening and need to get the cat in FAST, it's either pancreatitis or a toxic exposure, the cat ate something that is giving it a chemical poisoning.

    hairball, food. lol

my cat is dumb and sometimes forgets to chew her food because she's so excited to eat. then throws it back up completely un-chewed. lol.

sometimes when you suddenly change foods (brands) after a consistent diet the cat will get an upset stomach..

hairball most likely.. it will look like food with or without a clump of fur in it depending if they got it up or not. you can usually hear them coughing and gagging before this happens.

my cat eats and goes so fast he will throw it back up.I think its because he eats too much to fast, because he is very playful and loving.

Source(s): this is the experience i've had .He doesn't appear to be sick.Ihad to to vet and they say he's fine.
