I hate my name, but don't want to hurt my family?

I've never identified with the full name I was born with.  I hate the surname and the full name, and it's bugged me for years, since I was a kid.

It bothers me so much I'd like to get it changed legally.  I hate it because I have a very common FULL name, and it annoys me that so many people have the same FULL name as me.  I get so sick of being lost in the crowd, when I want to stand out.  I feel like people need to have a sense of individuality, to feel one of a kind.  This may sound shallow, but I've always wanted a pretty last name!


Furthermore, as a musician, I feel like I need something a little more glamorous.  

I really love my family and I don't want to hurt them, but I hate the name so much it's beginning to feel like a burden.  I hate being asked what my name is, because I feel like it's not the name I was meant to have.  It sounds VERY plain and it lacks sparkle; it's just not music to my ears.  It doesn't sound like a unique person... it just sounds like some generic product, mass produced from a mold in a factory.

I'm sick of living with a name I hate but I don't know what to do about this dilemna.  I wouldn't take my husband's name if I got married because I want to have a name all my own and not a name that I share with someone else.  I'm not putting down women who have done this, but having my husband's surname would make me feel like his property.  I want to belong to myself.

Furthermore, I don't know if I'll ever getting married, and I'm too miserable to wait.

get a name change. you are a musician so maybe you could just do with a single name and it can be something exotic. most musicians go by just a single name. only you and your family will know your real name.

I kind of have a plain name too but I like my first name so it's not so bad. I've always wanted a more interesting last name, though. I might change my name some day but for now it doesn't bother me that much.

Maybe you should try to look at things differently. It should count more for who you are than what you go by. If a really interesting character in a book went by a common name wouldn't you still find them interesting? Maybe even more so?

Dont change ur name. It was that for a reason. Your friends and family wont see u the same even over a silly name change. Trust me, just make up an artist name.

For boys, you gave a kind of James and James. i like the call James, and Aiden, too, yet why no longer provide him a Spanish center or first call to maintain the kinfolk happy? i like the call Carlos, yet once you do no longer, there are a number of different Spanish names for boys. Aninja is a foul thank you to spell that call. all and sundry is going to study it as "a ninja" and he or she would be waiting to be teased and would desire to describe all of it her existence. in case you will desire to call her Aneena, then spell it that replaced into or perchance Annina. I hate the call Evangelina. i be attentive to it somewhat is usual now by way of actress on lost, even nonetheless it is not a distinctly call. And it smacks of nutcase evangelistic faith. How approximately calling her basically Angelina? Rose is distinctly for a center call.

seriously girl XD ur overacting!!!! why u dont just chose an pseudoname and use it like ur real name when u need it, if u change ur real name it will be a family drama soon, n it will carry u a lot of all kind troubles.... plus, ur reasons r not strong enough to do this.....
