Why haven't Brawn been able to find a title sponser?

I know we're in a recession and all that, but you'd think that in 4 months the team that's been leading both championships from the beginning would be able to find someone.

Are they asking for too much dough?

I really don't have a good answer for this one. When You look at the size of the Virgin decals, they are really really small. If you are the only sponsor you could make the stickers as big as you like. I think there may be the serious possibility that Brawn may not be around next year, championship or not. I doubt Ross has the personal finance to run an operation like this on his own and it is possible that most sponsors would be willing to turn away if they could not get a guarantee for multi year contracts. Honda payed for most of the updates and budget so far and I can't see where the money is going to come from. That being said, the idea that british businesses would not want to be associated with Jenson winning the drivers title is pretty crazy. I'm sure you could get something on the car for a decent price.

because Brawn aren't a long-term championship contender. They will be developing this car right up until the end of the season to be competitive in the final races, and as we saw with Mclaren and Ferrari, this can have a catastrophic effect on the next year's title chances.

So, as you said, we are in a recession, and the companies that are looking for sponsorship want to find a deal that can carry them through the recession, rather than a black hole that will eat their cash for very little gain.

You have seen that, even a team as well-established as Mclaren took half a season to get their car competitive again, and so Brawn will be hopeless in 2010.

So, basically, Brawn are not a regular front-running team, and so at the moment their are no sponsors out there for them. They only got Virgin because he had been looking to purchase the team anyway.

Source(s): PLUS: I heard Branson is considering pulling the plug on the sponsorship at the end of the season anyway? So, if Brawn don't win the championship this year, they're screwed!

To be ordinary, the fairy tale ought to be approximately to end. As certainly one of the human beings pronounced, issues got here approximately that by surprise favoured them. yet for Honda pulling out, they might probable be a mid-point team now, probable with some factors. because of the fact the season progresses the convenience that they had will dwindle as different communities concentration their progression on the criteria that have enabled BGP to be forward. case in point, the Merc engine McLaren use is probable extra helpful than the only BGP and FI use, so all else being equivalent, McL will end a race first. lower back, the diffuser became into particularly a fluke. possibly some youthful engineer misinterpret the policies or something like that. even if if it got here approximately, as a be counted of actuality yet for the complexity in layout to get the main suitable from it, all the different communities might have one outfitted. as quickly as that complexity is concept, which shouldn't take long, then it is basically a be counted of time till now all of the communities have an aero replace with a diffuser it is a minimum of as reliable as Brawn's.

Not only title sponsor, but how about ancillary sponsorships? Don't know how it's referred to in F-1, but in US they're 'quarter panel' sponsors, or 'rear deck sponsors' or whatever. By themselves, they don't amount to much, but with 10 or 15 stickers, it can be worth a few extra thousand(s). But that's a really good question that I don't have the answer to.

One way they're exploring for funds is selling fan memberships invidual and coporate. I'm on their mailing list and just got a query and completed a marketing poll. They're considering selling memberships of one sort or another starting at £20 possibly as high as £100. Also considering selling scrap parts of cars (broken rotors, rods, etc.) as souvenir momentoes. But this is just chump change. Where are the real pounds/euros coming from. Sir Richard? Do we know what his depth of financial support is for Brawn? Might be nice to know.

Anyway, we need a lot more info before we can answer the question. But, tell you what, that question is worth a star. So I'll click the star and you can put an imaginary one right in the middle of your forehead. Good question.

EDIT: Knew I forgot something. How about (since we don't seem to know much about Sir Richard's finances or futures) maybe the question ought be, Are they actually looking? Eh?

if i had to make a guess id bet brawn is holding off till the end of the season, the sponsorship deal with the "reining world champs" has to have a higher price than a sponsorship with the "former honda team", so why lock in to a multi year deal now?

things are still going great for a first year team,

edit: dont forget that FOTA are fighting to lock in this years rules for next year in which case all brawn will need are updates and new parts, they wont need to redesign whole new cars, maybe im missing something but to me it looks like everything is falling into place in brawns favor

    I wonder about that too.

If they win the championship I think the sponsors will be queueing up, so I wonder why nobody is trying to get in now and maybe get a jump on the rest.

It's also possible that there is some deal going on behind the scenes, maybe even with Bernie. Never underestimate just how secretive F1 can be.

It is bizarre, I doubt Branson is paying that much and with almost no other sponsorship cash coming in, you wonder where the next development upgrade will happen and indeed if it will happen.

All that empty space, you'd think another large sponsor would be interested, considering the success they've had so far.

ive been told by someone who should know that honda have funded them to the tune of 80 million for this season. it makes sense as they have had plenty of offers for the year but are holding off for a top line long term deal.

a rumour is that rubens who is a very rich man is paying his way,no wonder he is peed off if he is paying while jensons deal was funded by honda a long while ago.
