Why is the left so against the Tea Party's stated objective of Freedom, Liberty and Individual Rights?

It's exactly like they were all about protesting war and now that Obama is in the white house the war protests are silenced. Guess it's suddenly now all ok if he says so?

I am just as confused as you.

I'm a registered Independent as I no long want to affiliate myself with any party. I can see clearly now, and I stand for my country instead of what a party tells me to think.

I think tea parties have been viewed as Republican, but when I attended one I know differently. I'd say the majority were Independents who are sick of it all.

I belong to the 912 project and there are people in it who are in all parties, I think. They stand for common sense, decency, freedom, respect and most importantly, life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.

I think any opposition right now is viewed as republican and that some liberals just don't get that it's not about them, it's about the monster that our government has become. Sure, they are in power right now, but the monster existed before that. Both parties are at fault.

If "hope" and "change" were tax deductible, we still would be in debt to the wazoo. Liberals have no intention of actually parting with any of their own wealth or lifting a finger to help the poor. That's for other people to do with what's left of their incomes after the government has taken its increasingly large cut.

I like the focus for both Democrats and Republicans. Freedom, Liberty and Individual Rights is for everyone, not just Republican. It makes you wonder why Liberal Progressives don't back this movement fully. This is truly bi-partisan. After reading some of the answers from your question, it's no wonder why the Democrats' ideas are being rated so poorly. It is becoming painfully obvious that the party of Democrats stands for Government Redistribution, Plantation owning welfare state and State mandated regulations on life itself. The Democratic party is being flushed and the spiraling swirl also stinks.

To understand why the media is against the TEA Party movement then it is important to know what the media is in America. This answer will address both who the media is and who the Tea Baggers are. The traditional 60's model leftist liberal of which the hippie movement was a part is no longer in existence. The mainstream media which evolved from early Hollywood hijacked the movement by way of television. Pioneers like Cronkite shaped the opinions of the country ripe for the picking. (Not to forget that Cronkite caused such resentment towards the Viet Nam war that returning soldiers were spat on). Social engineering by way of television began to dominate every aspect of American life. From Civil Rights to the Womans Liberation Movement the anti-government message of the 60's was replaced by the anti-establishment message. This new Leftist Anti-establishment Movement is now forty years old and that "establishment" which is still intact is defined as the The Conservative Right (TEA Baggers) and the Media has now defined itself as the "Left". This is why media falls all over itself to protect the fruit of a non-establishment president. To accuse TEA Baggers with racial prejudice is the oldest ploy known to media.

I am an active member of the tea party movement. I have been to them all in our area. Many of the tea party goers are liberals of yesterday along with moderates and conservatives.

Liberals today are a far cry from the liberals of yesterday. The liberals today are using the freedoms and protections afforded them to attack the hands that got them this far. The liberals today are fighting off our backs and slapping us in the face with it.

The so called liberals today are a disgrace to the movement. You won't find these new left wing liberals at tea parties. They are too busy enticing hate, bigotry and demolishing our freedoms.

It has been my experience that many on the left only approve of free speech and free assembly if they are the ones doing it. They view conservatives as being dangerous. Therefore anything inspired by conservative belief is dangerous and must be stopped or discredited. It is just another indication of the fact that the majority of true leftists are not really liberals but rather statists. What is difference you ask? Liberals actually believe in freedom for all. Statists believe in control hy any means necessary.

It is ok if the masses of the unbathed hippies protest, pushing socialist issues, and more recently, masses of ignorant rich kids protesting the 'unjust' war in Iraq (not a peep about Obama increasing troops in Afghanistan, and troops deaths reaching the highest level during Iraq).

That is the left wing's basic flaw:

No one can have any kind of righteous cause other than them.

If you do, you are branded or slandered, hence, 'ignorant rednecks' or 'white trash', which, in itself is an ethnic slur, but it is ok, since it is directed at poor, underclass whites, as opposed to poor, underclass blacks.

ANY protest MUST be from the left.

So many people CANNOT have anything other than a left slant to their thinking, since the left is so stuck up and obnoxious that they can be the only ones who are 'right', pardon the pun.

You can protest about the environment

You can protest against the war

You can protest for 'gay rights'

you can protest against any 'right wing' agenda.

But it is unthinkable to protest for any kind of honest value or virtue.

Obama isn't a leftist if you look at the political compass. He is however, more left than the Republicans.

The principle organizers of the local events are actually the Republican lobbyist-run think tanks Americans for Prosperity and Freedom Works. The two groups are heavily staffed and well funded, and are providing all the logistical and public relations work necessary for planning coast-to-coast protests:

– Freedom Works staffers coordinate conference calls among protesters, contacting conservative activists to give them “sign ideas, sample press releases, and a map of events around the country.”

– Freedom Works staffers apparently moved to “take over” the planning of local events in Florida.

– Freedom Works provides how-to guides for delivering a “clear message” to the public and media.

– Freedom Works has several domain addresses — some of them made to look like they were set up by amateurs — to promote the protests.

– Americans for Prosperity is writing press releases and planning the events in New Jersey, Arizona, New Hampshire, Missouri, Kansas, and several other states.

Last year, the Wall Street Journal exposed Freedom Works for similarly building “amateur-looking” websites to promote the lobbying interests of Dick Armey, the former Republican Majority Leader who now leads Freedom Works and is a lobbyist for the firm DLA Piper.

Need more proof? Why is it that the Tea Party organizers say that they represent "the people" yet no one there shows up to speak except right wing reactionaries working on behalf of the elite? And why were Republicans working for the oligarchy campaigning?

The Tea Parties are a false hope for the people's of the world.

The left is only for freedoms that they approve. You have freedom of speech, but only if they approve of what you say. Right now, you can be called a racist. Soon, you be facing jail time. So, you have rights, but only if you don't use them and don't question Barry Hussein. Now write out a big check to the government and have some more children, because we'll need them to pay everything.

Because the Left does not support any of these for any one but the power to be and that is neither you or me or 99.9% of the people.
