valve adjustment on 1998 GMC Sierra 350 engine?

Can anyone tell me how to adjust the valve on a 1998 GMC Sierra with a 350 Vortec engine....I just had to replace the head gasket and need to know if lash adjustment is necessary with hydraulic lifters or do I just tighten them and let the lifters do their work

Yep, you answered your own question. You need to set the exhaust 'HOT' to 13 thousands and again, 'HOT' the Inlet to 10 thousands, then the lifters will do the work.

The best [and messiest] way to set those hydraulics is to get them fairly close to zero clearance by turning the engine over by hand and watching that each one is on the base circle of the cam. Then, put one valve cover on and start the engine. With the engine running and oil spraying all over the place, start with the first one by loosening it slightly until it begins to clack. Then tighten it down one full turn.Move to the next and do the same until all of them are set.

Zero lash plus one turn (360 degrees).
