Babies being in the wind?

So ever since my little girl was born if I have her outside and my mil sees and it is a little bit windy she tells me to get her out of the wind. My husbands parents own a farm and we live on the farm and they live down the road so they are always here. Today it was 80 outside and my husband was working in the garden. The wind picked up and his mom yelled at him for having Holland outside in a stroller because it was too windy. She is 5 1/2 months old and weighs 16 lbs. She is not a tiny baby and she is very healthy. We do not get why his mom is so worried about the wind. We mostly tell his mom that Holland is fine and it is not that windy. But it just confuses us. If anyone can shed some light on this. She is also in her late 60's and immigrated from the Netherlands when she was younger. So maybe it is something from when she grew up.

Update:

It was 80 and like 70% humidity. It was warm and my husband was right there he was just weeding the garden and she was playing in her stroller. She loves to just sit in the stroller and watch us. She is happier outside then inside.

Update 2:

I just did not know if anyone else had heard about people worried about babies in the wind.

Update 3:

She has never done that gasping thing. I know that some babies do it but she has never done it. She will be acting just the same as when the wind is not blowing. We usually have her turned so the back of the stroller is to the wind

yes older people do it all the time, I was waiting for a bus when my son was about 5 months and there was some sunlight on his face, he had turned his head away from it so I didn't worry, you know what this older woman did? she got my pram and moved it! I was so mad at her, she had no right to do that. have your baby facing the other way when there is wind, as it might bother him a bit, but don't worry about your MIL its your choice not hers.

Have you ever noticed when you blow in your baby's face she stops breathing for a second? All babies do it, and I can't remember when they stop, but that's probably why she's freaking out, not because she's going to get sick or anything just because it's probably difficult for her to breathe. Just watch her carefully next time your out and the wind is directly in her face and you may notice her gasping for breath when the wind picks up. Other than that there's no reason for her not to be out.

Edit: I knew this before hand, but I had an old lady stop me on my way into a grocery store one day to tell me this. I was so mad because it wasn't like I was standing outside, I was rushing from the car to the store when it was super windy out and she stopped me to tell me, lmao! Glad I can laugh about it now.

It is because A LOT of people believe that if you take a baby out in the wind thy will get colic. The baby will suck the wind & it will gwt trapped in their tummy. I have heard "Don't take that baby out in the wind" numerous times... I don't think that her immigrating from the Netherlands has anything to do with it... She is old school, that's just what they believe.

I don't think it's a problem unless the wind was bitter cold, or your child was unsupervised. it might be an age/ cultural thing.
