New car help (stupid 20 characters)?
I'm looking for an upgrade from my 1988 Nissan Skyline GXE (R31), and I'm torn between a few cars.
1992 Toyota Soarer GT Limited/Lexus Soarer SC400

- 3.0L V6 (JE)
- Luxurious but not as much as the Soarer

Suggest any other cars if you like, but be warned:
- I'm only on my P's so I can't have it turbocharged. Not so much that it's illegal, I live in South Australia, but my insurance will be through the roof
- Mustangs, Camaros, Chargers, etc. are out of the question. For starters, they're too expensive as Australia didn't natively get them. We had to get them imported. Secondly, they're American, and thirdly these cars would probably beat them in overall performance anyway.
- I'm on a budget of AU$7500, but preferably around the AU$5000-6500 range.
- Classic muscle cars are only useful in a straight line and don't have anything on the "rice burners" in safety, dynamics and reliability.
- The Skyline's actually one of the least frugal cars I'm looking at with the Soarer only being less frugal because it has a four litre V8. The 929 is really only a consideration for the luxury, and I love the SSS Pulsar, and it's the cheapest of the bunch.
- This is going to be my daily drive, but I don't really drive that often, only a couple of kms to work and back. Petrol is not really a concern.
- Later years and less mileage does NOT mean a more reliable car. Some people are selling their 70s Mercs with 400,000kms on the clock that still run like new.
- Even though the American cars may be faster in a straight line, they can't handle for crap, and again they're out of my price range. The cheapest being an IROC-Z Camaro @ around 10 grand.

Sorry but those three American cars would smoke them all. I suggest you stop thinking about wrapping yourself around a tree from the speed you think you need out of coolness and get the newest car with the least mileage. The 1995 skyline. You will get more years from it and better gas mileage saving you butt loads a year on fuel. Plus the Skyline is a nice car and you already own one so you will know how to maintain the upkeep better.

first off an american car would smoke any of those rice burners , but i would say the toyota because its performance would be better and mileage would be great on a toyota they also handle the best out of all those models .
