Best gun and round for a coyote?

What would you say the best round for a coyote is within 25-75 yards? And what rifle and round would be best that I'm willing to use on one, because I have extra ammo for those guns.

SKS with FMJ and HP rounds

Mosin Nagant with FMJ and soft lead nose rounds

A H&R rifle in 7mm-08 and .223, 7mm-8 being soft lead nose rounds and the .223 being FMJ.

Update:

I'm asking the best round you think if you could choose any round of your choosing,

and out of these.

Update 2:

It's going to be a broadside shot, I know his route in the morning, I'm shooting to take him out as a pest. Not caring about the hide. I'm thinking still SKS or Mosin or 7mm-08, because the 7mm will get the job done and I don't have to clean my rifle right away or even wait a few days, but the other SKS and Mosin offer me faster follow up shots but I would have to clean them soon because corrosive ammo and I'm kinda feeling lazy.

A .223 is a varmint caliber, but you also have to take into account the size of the coyotes where you live. And, I would not use a .223 on the coyotes down here, I'd use a .243 or even a .308.

Also, what shots do you plan on taking? Broadside, quartering away, etc? What terrain? Different calibers fair better in different conditions.

.223 is best and a softpoint or hollowpoint would be better......and safe some money.......cause a 7mm-08 is a little expensive for plinking and varmints and a SKS,Mosin does not have the accuracy and range. A good .223 rifle with scope is your perfect coyote gun hands down.

what do you want from the coyote? are you keeping the skin or just throwing it away and killing for pest control?

because if pest control specifically, all of them will do with expanding bullets out to 150 yards and if excluding the sks, the rest will be good out to 300 yards, just be sure to use expanding bullets, since FMJ don't kill well and are usually illegal to hunt with except the smallest pests like prairie dogs.

if trying to keep the skins, use the .223 and get proper varmint rounds like the varmint grenade from barnes, cause as said above, FMJ is illegal for coyotes anywhere and you want to make a clean kill without destroying too much fur.

I regularly shoot coyotes with a bolt-action 308 with iron sights and catch a lot of abuse for it from varmint hunters who are married to the super fast mid-2x calibers and their scopes worth more than my first car.

Yeah, it makes a holy mess but I don't touch nasty coyote hides anyway, so who cares? I hunt them in the high desert with hills and a blind on my side, so 100 yards is a long shot as we can see them coming to the call from a ways off and just wait.

Any one of these is good in my opinion, bring them all!!

i like a Mosin with 203 grain Soft Point or 180 Grain FMJ remmeber to headshot them with FMJs

I would say a .223 and no bigger than a .243. Both of those have plenty of power to kill a coyote. My little cousin killed his first deer with a .223.

depends on if you are going to do anything with the hides or if your just getting rid of a problem personally i would use the mosin nagant but that is just me

i would use the 223 with light grain ammo

    * 223 * because the other calibers you mentioned are Big Game Calibers not Varmint calibers.*

    Source(s): * Run like a Deer.*......................Fly like an Eagle.*~~
