Clavamox and it's effects...?
One other question...
I had a suspicion that the anitbiodic called Clavamox has been more harm to my kitty then good. Out of curiosity, has anyone ever experienced any negatives with this drug?
Wow, I just found a site http://ratguide.com/meds/antimicrobial_agents/clav... that states that this drug can cause neurotoxicity.
I looked up the symptoms and I'm wondering now if I have an additional issue on my hands. Because 3 days after taking that, my kitty went down hill...

It's only supposed to be used for specific bacterial infections.

Clavamox for cats can treat skin, bone, oral and bladder infections as well as infections from wounds and pneumonia.
Like other antibiotics, Clavamox destroys the "friendly" bacteria in the cat's stomach and often causes diarrhea or vomiting. Ask your vet for a probiotic to restore the bacteria. Health food stores also sell probiotics suitable for cats.
You have to complete the full course of Clavamox, even if it seems your cat is feeling better. Stopping the medication early could cause a relapse or make your cat's infection resistant to the drug.
While generally safe and effective when prescribed by a veterinarian, amoxicillin + clavulanate can cause side effects in some animals.
Amoxicillin + clavulanate should not be used in animals with known hypersensitivity or allergy to the drug.
Some animals may vomit shortly after administration of amoxicillin + clavulanate. If vomiting after administration continues to occur, contact your veterinarian.
It is common for animals to develop diarrhea or loose stools from oral amoxicillin, and the same reaction may occur with amoxicillin + clavulanate. This is caused by a change in the bacterial population in the animal's intestine.
Amoxicillin + clavulanate may interact with other medications. Consult with your veterinarian to determine if other drugs your pet is receiving could interact with amoxicillin + clavulanate. Such drugs include chloramphenicol and tetracycline.

Clavamox can cause diarrhea, but otherwise it is more beneficial than harmful... If your kitty is having a reaction you need to call your vet.
