What to do before a drug test? I am clean, but I drank too much water the first time?
I drank a 32 oz. coke right before I got the call from my employer, asking if I could go in today to get a drug test. I don't have time later, so leaving within the next few hours is a must. I had water before I left.
Last time, I drank too much water, and the urine was diluted, so I have to go in again.
Did I drink too much?
I really don't want to have to do this again.
I should really edit before I post things. I just re-read the post, and that doesn't make any sense. Eep.
I had chocolate milk when I woke up, a glass of water shortly after that. I then had the soda about 3 hours later, and haven't had anything since. It's been almost two hours since the soda.
I left to go errands, I'm leaving in about an hour and half to go take the test.

Being in a position where I take urinalysis all week long I know this for a fact. A normal amount of water, that a normal person consumes in a day WILL NOT dilute a urinalysis. If you drink a half gal.of water right prior to a urinalysis, it MAY be diluted. A 32 oz Coke should be okay due to the fact it is a darker liquid and does not have the same chance of diluting it. But if you drink a lot of water earlier today and topped it off with 32 oz it will be diluted again. Just curious- you stated you drank 32 oz prior to the call - then drank more water before you left- that makes no sense if you are clean of drugs. Sorry call it as I see it. Your employer will not likely give you too many more chance to drop. At my job a diluted is the same as a dirty, same for the people I do drops on. Good Luck

I don't know how they determine if your urine is too diluted so this might not work. If they just go by the color this should help: B vitamins make your urine darker. So if you drink an energy drink it might help. You don't need the ones with caffeine, just the B vitamins. I suppose you could just take a B vitamin supplement. That would probably be best!
Source(s): Last time I had to be tested the nurse was concerned b/c my urine was so dark. She thought I was really dehydrated. I asked her if drinking 2 of those 5 hour energies could have done that. She said yes. (BTW I passed) - Anonymous1 decade ago
Just don't drink anything else from now until after the test and it will probably be ok.
