Read the bill? is that all they have?

This seems to be the right wing talking point of the month. Everyone is in here and on cable news saying no one has read the bill. Do they think if they repeat that enough it will stick?

Also, they point to sites where they have takin the liberty to interpret what they think it might mean for you. It's like someone twisting a Bible verse for their own agenda. It's pretty shallow but there will always be a percentage who will fall for it.

how very sad.

Update:

what makes you think it has not been read? Someone wrote it. It must have been read. and will be read and edited and re-edited. That is all part of the process. I know it's a talking point but it is a really stupid one.

Update 2:

yes I have read the "draft" and the "interpretations" from the right wing lunatics.

Actually, there are three bills in the House, two in the Senate...all have to be vetted, voted on and merged into one. Obama knows what he wants, what he has instructed Congress to provide. He will have the ultimate decision. Let's see how the republicans water it down. They are the ones fighting Obama...they want him to fail and any bill that would pass in Congress would be an accomplishment. These childish antics of the republicans are getting old. I sat in yesterday on a conference call with our one republican, thankful AARP hosted the call and set the record straight. Clearly she is against the people using the same health care system as Congress. How sad...how utterly sad! The lies spread by the health care for profit industry has the old people very concerned...these are the people who value money over life. These are the people who deny people medical procedures. Sad...very, very sad that this country is all about money for the corporations. Obama has said he will not sign anything that will add an additional burden on taxpayers. If some type of reform is not implemented...the health care for profit industry will continue raising premiums and denying critically needed procedures.

Why are the American people afraid of these corporation...insurance companies, hospitals and drug companies. They have had a strangle hold on America too long! We need to thank the republicans for this quagmire...especially Richard Nixon and Edgar Kaiser!

So advocating that people read the bill and make an informed decision is a bad thing? Maybe ignorance is bliss for you but I prefer to be informed.

You said what makes us think that the bill hasn't been read? I don't know maybe the fact that any time anyone is asked a tough question about a specific part of the bill they say they aren't familiar with that part of it. Is it really too much to ask that the people who are responsible for shaping the future of this country actually know what they are voting on and are capable of presenting at least a decent argument in favor of it? I'm not familiar with that provision is not an acceptable answer.

I hear what you are saying that some of the things might be slanted, but that goes both ways. You will need to find the middle ground on what both parties are saying, or perhaps read the bill yourself.

"Read the bill" isn't as outrageous as it sounds. Politicians openly admitted to not fully reading the stimulus before it was signed into law.

Have you even done any research at all at what this bill entails?? Have you inquired as to what can and may happen should certain parts of this bill get passed??

Do you know what the heck you are spouting off about or are you one of those blind follow my leader people?

We are headed down a long and rocky road because of peoples thirst for free stuff and ignorance about the repercussions.

well, when the democrats haven't read the bill and want to vote on it, don't you think it's an intelligent thing to say? Read the bill.

it's not posted online. The opening statement says something to the effect of "to reform health care in America...AND OTHER PURPOSES"

what are these so called "other purposes"? why don't they just explain themselves, they do have 1000 pages to work with.

I agree, we should just accept the words of a politician. They don't lie, they have our best interest in mind. Lets just pass the bill and move on, who needs to read it. We can pass cap and trade without reading it, lets just make this the norm.

That's all they have. Most of their lies and distortions about the proposed legislation are being addressed so they are into challenge mode. They know that most of their base won't have read the bill and they therefore assume that the supporters haven't. They assume incorrectly.

You don't think they should read a bill before they vote on it?

I guess you have not been paying attention. They even admit they have not read the bill.
