Do you have recipes for babies using baby cereal.?

My daughter, 8 months old, has completely rejected baby cereal and baby food jars. The doctor insists that she needs to take baby cereal in ensure she is getting her daily dose of iron. What should I do. Does anyone have any recipes using baby cereal in things like cookies, cakes, pancakes, etc?? She likes most finger foods.

Please help. I appreciate all your help in advance!

  • Sorry to tell you, but your doctor is sorely misinformed. Contrary to popular myth, babies do NOT need rice cereal in their diet. Your baby is getting plenty of iron from breastmilk/formula. There are plenty of other foods you can feed your baby that contain iron. Steam up some broccoli, spinach, pastas, chicken, whatever, really and let baby have a go at it! She wants the real stuff!

If you want to eat truly healthy, lose body fat consistently, normalize your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, prevent cancer, and even boost your brain health and energy levels, you may have heard all over the news that the Paleo Diet has been found to be one of the best methods of achieving all of these benefits compared to any other popular "fad" diets out there. Go here https://biturl.im/aUBVX

The truth is that the Paleo Diet will never be considered a fad because it's just simply the way that humans evolved to eat over approximately 2 million years. And eating in a similar fashion to our ancestors has been proven time and time again to offer amazing health benefits, including prevention of most diseases of civilization such as cancer, heart disease, alzheimers, and other chronic conditions that are mostly caused by poor diet and lifestyle. One of the biggest misunderstandings about the Paleo Diet is that it's a meat-eating diet, or a super low-carb diet. This is not true

  • Google recipes that use baby cereal. They exist. Also you shouldn't automatically believe everything your babies doctor tells you.

Your doctor doesn't know what he is talking about. Your baby does not need to eat baby cereal to get enough iron.

Foods that are a good source of iron include:

liver ,lean red meats, including beef, pork, lamb ,beans, including kidney, lima, navy, black, pinto, soy beans, and lentils ,iron fortified whole grains, including cereals, breads, rice, and pasta

greens, including collard greens, kale, mustard greens, spinach, and turnip greens

tofu ,vegetables, including broccoli, swiss chard, asparagus, parsley, chicken and turkey

    BABY OATMEAL CEREAL COOKIES

    2 c. flour

    1 tsp. soda

    1/2 tsp. salt

    1/2 tsp. baking powder

    2 1/2-3 c. baby oatmeal cereal

    2 eggs

    1 c. white sugar

    1 c. brown sugar

    1/2 c. oil

    1 tsp. vanilla

Mix eggs, sugars, oil and vanilla. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Bake at 350 degrees about 15 minutes.

give her real food. she is definatly old enough at 8 months. im not one of those moms to go "by the book" with foods and ages. brody is 17 pounds and 27 inches long and his ped told me to go ahead and start giving him stage 1&2 jar baby foods because he never seems full with formula. i think you should give her real food. if she doesnt like cereal and baby food then its totally fine. give her some mashed potatos [you can just use the instant kind] or some cooked pinwheele pasta. you can give her pancakes made of regular ingrediants, there is also a recipe for pancakes on the gerber baby oatmeal cereal box. im sure you can google it.

Given the time of year it is, the best thing to do with those jars of baby food would be to donate them to a local food bank. There are lots of hungry toddlers out there who would appreciate them. In the alternative, why don't you make a sturdy vegetable soup? Start with a chicken broth and vegetables, then add the veggie purees. Or make bean soup and add the purees, then puree some more to make it thicker. Or, you could add some of them to cornbread, like sweet potatoes or carrots. Or put the sweet potatoes or carrots into some pumpkin or other spice cake.

  • This is BS and you should do some research and consider either finding a new doctor, or never turning to him for advice on issues of nutrition.

She can have real food with iron in it. Meat. Dark green leafy veg. Beans. Etcetera.

Lots of adult cereals are high in iron; see if she likes Bran Flakes. Chick peas are good and you can smear hummus on just about anything.

Molasses and dried apricots are high in iron. Here's a granola that has both: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Vegan-Granola/Detail....

If she won't take baby cereal made with formula or milk (ensure?) try making some egg custard or soft boiled or soft scrambled eggs. They have plenty of iron. I wouldn't worry about baby cereal. Try cream of wheat.
