Turbo Diesel tuning question.?

I need some more power out of my TD engine, Can I simply reduce pressure to the waste-gate to make it open later, thus increasing the boost? I understand also id need to adjust the fuel pump so it injects more fuel to keep the mixture from going too lean. My first plan is to install a boost gauge so I can see where the pressure lies, then increase it about 5%

I think it has the Bosch VE style pump.

Does anyone have any other tips for more power.

Update:

The engine is out of a 1998 Seat Cordoba 1.9TD

Thanks for reminding me of the obvious hazzards that can occour from tuning. I will let you know, that I am aware of such outcomes. Thank you for your concern...

You don't state what type of vehicle this is but the advise is the same.

Biggest bang for the buck is chipping first.

The reference below applies to any TD, enjoy!

what company makes that engine??? you fool with that engine the way you are describing and you can end up with junk/you really have to know that system/ those engines are totally opposite of gas engines and do not respond well to what you are doing
