If you voted for Bush now what do you say?
Former Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge says he successfully countered an effort by senior Bush administration officials to raise the nation's terror alert level in the days before the 2004 presidential vote. So did the means justify the result? Was it ok to falsely panic the people to get more votes? Former Vice President Dick Cheney believes his old boss, President George W. Bush, gradually turned away from his advice during their second term in the White House. If you can't trust your VP why did you pick him? The war in Iraq was a failure of intelligence. The government's response to Katrina—like the failure to anticipate that terrorists would fly into buildings on 9/11—was a failure of imagination. Within 24 hours of the storm's arrival, Bush needed to be able to imagine the scenes of disorder and misery that would, two days later, shock him when he watched the evening news. He needed to be able to see that New Orleans would spin into violence and chaos very quickly if the U.S. government did not take charge—and, in effect, send in the cavalry, which in this case probably meant sending in a brigade from a combat outfit, like the 82nd Airborne, based in Fort Bragg, N.C., and prepared to deploy anywhere in the world in 18 hours. Are you still proud of your choice? A quote from Bush just before he left office. Losing a job is painful, and I know Americans are concerned about our economy; so am I. It's clear our economy has slowed, but the good news is, we anticipated this and took decisive action to bolster the economy, by passing a growth package that will put money into the hands of American workers and businesses." March 7 on news that the economy lost 63,000 payroll jobs in February. Since then 750,000 jobs were lost per week and we had a $1.3 trillion deficit. I want to know who still says they are proud of their choice. Or will you just stick your head in the sand? As far as many of us feel, you let America down with your vote. Please Don't blow it again.

for one thing, Ridge didn't immediately resign. He resigned after the election. If he believed at the time that manipulating the terror alert system was damaging to the country, and he said nothing, and when he did resign, he said nothing, then he doesn't come off as a particularly sympathetic figure. Ridge left the White House in 2005. He's joined several corporate boards, has made a lot of money consulting on homeland security, and has been mostly silent. He's probably been saving it for the book.

You are so screwed up, you need a map just to find daylight.
Let's review...
"Dick Cheney believes his old boss, President George W. Bush, gradually turned away from his advice during their second term in the White House"
Ya... Bush was being accused constantly of being the "public face" of Dick Cheney. Bush clarified WHO was in charge for all his many detractors.
"The war in Iraq was a failure of intelligence. "
THIS was the intelligence infrastructure GUTTED and ineffective from 8 years of CLINTONS.
"The government's response to Katrina...—was a failure of imagination."
Bush is ON RECORD advising Gov Blanco to call out her National Guard. SHE admitted this by accident on a "live mic". New Orleans had THREE DAYS of warnings to evacuate. The STATE government is to blame, not the Fed and not FEMA.
I like a lot of what Bush 43 did... and I don't like a lot of what Bush 43 did (or didn't do). BUT, I'm not going to fall for the BS you just posted here. If you believe the crap you posted, YOU are the one with your head buried... right up Howard Dean's BUTT.

i might have voted for Bush if he grew to become into working against Obama, to be trouble-free. If it have been Joe Biden working against Bush, I possibly might have voted for Joe. it is all approximately techniques. whilst the democrats run a functional centrist who has a shred of common sense, i'm keen to vote for him. in the event that they run a left-wing loony salesman for the DNC who has no thought what is going on, who he's, or what to do, i'm going to vote for the Republican each and every time.

Bush was not a great President, but he is no different from any politician.
What really hurt him, was 9/11. He became over aggressive and lost his way. I would vote for him over Kerry again.
For all the liberal talk of ending the wars, what has been done to end them?

What I say is that Ridge is making a business decision. He needs to be sure to capatilize on all the Bush-hate before it goes away. He needs to sell books.

I've seen 4 different versions of this story but none ever give the reason the elevated status was requested. We all ASSUME the worst.. but the reason for the action is never given.
Typical liberal spin: conviction before the facts are presented.

Sweety, why are you stuck in the past? Obama is our president now. The nation is more screwed up then ever. Stop trying to push the blame onto Bush. He's long gone, its all Obama now.

It shows Bush made an excellent choice in Tom Ridge, don't you agree?

I didn't vote for Bush. He killed this country and it will take years to recover from his rule!!
Thank God he is gone....I hope we can pull through.
Oh....btw....you will never get Bush supporters to accept that Bush and his administration got America in the shape it is in now. They are in deep denial.
