Nylon brush over brass yet?

Just wondering does anyone use only a nylon brush on their bore now or still the brass brushes? I wonder because I was talking to a fellow that was saying he wouldn't ever touch his guns again with brass brush if he could help it.

Update:

Even though I still use the brass brushes.

You want to avoid steel brushes in your guns unless they are old Chicom rifles or some gun you don't care about. I use brass brushes and so do a lot of guys who shoot long range precision matches. Nylon brushes don't do the hard scrubing I need done to work the copper solvent into the nooks and crannies of the bore. I believe Glock says to not use brass brushes on their bores. At least that is what I have been told by a few Glock owners.

Nylon brushes are a waste of time. Brass is softer than even the most mild barrel steel. It can't scratch the barrel. If you shoot a lot of lead bullets one of the best cleaning methods is brass wool wrapped around an old brush.

Anyone afraid of damaging a steel barrel with a brass brush sounds a little to freaky to be taking advice from.

I still use brass brushes with all my firearms. Usually it is the rods that cause any damage versus the brush causing damage. You have to protect the crown (muzzle) of your firearm. A good rod guide is worth the money or pay for a very good rod instead of the cheap ones.

If the steel of your barrel is soft enough to be damaged by a brass brush, you need to spend more on your firearms and it probably isn't safe to shoot.
