Adopting from Mexico?

Ok so I am trying to adopt my cousin from Mexico. I have gone to all the web sites but they only give information on how to adopt orphans and info about Hague convention rules. Does anyone know what the procedure is if my aunt and uncle sign over custody to me. She is 12 years old . About how much does it cost and how long does it take? My husband and I have two kids but my cousin and her family are really struggling and I would like to adopt her. Please , any relevant information would be helpful.

Update:

I understand that I will have to get an attorney but I am really only looking for personal experience on this question. Thanks though.

Why are you bothering with adoption?

Get the kid a passport and a visa and fly her to your house. Seems to me that's called - visiting relatives. Happens every day. Once she's here, you can get her citizenship or a more permanent visa.

To adopt a child, the parents have to give up legal rights. Are her parents ready to do that?

    Basically, the answer is...

You need to talk to an adoption lawyer. Preferably someone who specializes in international adoption. No one here knows your situation. Laws are different where you live, where the child lives, and there are all sorts of details that influence what to do and how to do it.

You need to speak to an attorney specializing in adoption and family law.

The internet can only take you so far. With issues of immigration plus adoption...you need to go through the courts.
