Why is my cat losing hair under her chin?

I noticed about a week ago a small patch on the neck area of my cat under her chin was losing hair. The hairless area is appearing to grow, but I can see no rash or other skin irritation present. She is an indoor cat and rarely goes outside, nor has she been outdoors lately.

Anyone have any ideas before I schedule a vet appointment?

My cat used to lose hair in random spots all the time. I always assumed it was from him scratching. Next time check to see if your cat is overly. scratching his or her chin. It might have fleas.

Have there been any changes in food lately? She may be allergic to the food, or could have mites or fleas. Indoor cats get fleas, mine did and I live on the 3rd floor!!

She probably is scratching too harshly under her chin. I'd take her to the vet to get it fixed. She might have a problem under her chin that causes her to scratch that area too vigorously.
