We've used all the different places that do the canine DNA and we prefer the DNA Diagnostics Center. http://www.vetdnacenter.com/canine-breed-test.html
We have found them to be accurate and the cost is about $60...and they just need a cheek swab sample.

I could see it going either way. There are some pretty rare breeds that seem rather unlikely, but it also says that they are distant relatives. A mutt could have a million different breeds in there that could be identified, rare or not. In our rescue, we have a puppymill rescue that came to us 56 days pregnant so it was too late to abort the litter. We know for a fact that the pups' mother is a Doberman because we were there for the birth. We also have a good idea that the father was a Boxer because the mom was seized from a Boxer breeder, yet the pups all look nothing like either breed....If I didn't know better, I'd swear that they were Pitbull/shepherd mixes. I see absolutely no Doberman in those pups whatsoever, but I witnessed them be birthed by a Doberman...go figure. I guess we won't know for sure until they perfect the method, but I know that mixes are unpredictable enough to throw off even an experienced person so it's hard to say if those tests are accurate or not.

Yes I guess St. Bernard in your other question and I still stand by it..
I live in Australia, but unfortunately I don't know the cost of getting a DNA test done.
But in your previous question about this, you said when you picked best answer that you had him tested and was found out to be Basenji x St. Bernard.

If the dog were mine I would certainly want to know the breed. The test can be purchased at the link below for only $59.95. Too, it is good to know what breeds are involved, to properly diagnose potential medical risks and predisposed hereditary issues.

The DNA testing done here in Australia is for genetic disorders only.

Don't waste your money. The tests state they are not accurate & only covers a fraction of the breeds. They often want a pic so they can better guessimate. Pup looks like Saint cuz of coloring.
