Why does my cat pee on everything?

I have an unneutered male cat who pees everywhere. He doesnt spray at all. He pees in closets, on backpacks, plastic bags, the litterbox, our bed (with us in it) and he pees on the couch. About 3-4 months ago we switched litters and he was still doing it. He hasnt peed on anything for about a month and this morning he peed on us when we were in bed. We havent changed any of our routines or gotten anything new so why would he stop for a month and then start again? I could understand if he is marking territory but like I said why stop and then start again?

Have you taken him to the vet? This is usually a urinary tract infection, which can be cleared up with antibiotics but can cause a very serious problem in males if left untreated.

Also, neutering would help, but he needs to checked for the UTI. You do not want him to get fully blocked, because this is a true vet emergency.

It could be many reasons. For one, there is a chance that he actually didn't stop for a month you just haven't found his pee that he hide, you'd be surprised the crazy places cats can find and crawl into.

Second, as far as peeing on you, maybe you did something to upset him, maybe you scowled him or what ever but most animals only pee or poop on their owner or their owners things if their mad. You could also have a picky cat. My parents cat is so picky about her liter box where she had to have every pee and poop scooped out before she went to the bathroom again and if it wasn't she'd do it on their stuff. The ended up getting one of those self cleaning liter boxe.

Just really watch your cats behavior and how you treat him and see what happens, also try the constant cleaning of the liter box thing

    Be either way good luck

He is not neutered! Male cats will mark their territory if not neutered. Your going to have 1 smelly house! Have you taken him or a urine sample in to the vet? He could have an infection and associate using the box with pain so he pees everywhere else.

I would take him in for a check today or tomorrow and also get him fixed.

First of all have the cat neutered. This may be all you need to do. If he is still doing it after that have him checked by a vet it may be a health problem. I have a cat who does this and it's because she has feline asthma and the dust from the litter triggers an attack and she can't breathe so I have to use a dust-free litter (usually crystals or pine pellets). Hope this helps.

This cat has a bas habit, this is manily terrtory, cats have a very strang senct in there pee, even though you think the smell is gone, it still there just not to the human nose. The stopping then going is manily probally bause you washed you blankets [i hope u did.] when this happeneds. you picks him up and place him maybe outdors [if they dont run or you have a fence.] or in a crate. the cat witll soon learn then take him out and put him in his litter box after 10 minutes in the crate or outdoors, this should break the habit.

have him fixed-he could just be marking his territory-as any intact male will do--and it might look like just peeing to you--he also might also have any number of health issues (uti, kidney stones, renal failure, etc) or behavioral issues. You really won't know until you take him to the vet and check him out thoroughly--

    good luck!

also-clean up the pee with an enzymatic cleaner (ie.nature's miracle) otherwise even when he's fixed and or healthy he will just go right back to those spots and pee again!
