Turned off by the Christian "judgemental" God?

Often times people seemed turned off by Christianity because the God of the Bible isn't ok with a lot of things, and is very "narrow minded" towards salvation.

When they hear that God is a judge they want nothing to do with him, but if a judge in a court of law sentiences you and you do not like it, do you get to ignore it?

If there is a God of all things, it is reasonable that he created all things for a purpose, and has full right to judge according to his purpose. Shouldn't we then want to be closer to God, so that we may delight in His favor, and not suffer in his judgement?

It's not just your god's capricious, petty, jealous, insecure, misogynous, temperamental, bloodthirsty, psychotic, judgmental nature. There's also the small matter of your god being nothing more than a figment of of your imagination. That gets in the way of a lot of people believing. Courts of law are a bit harder to ignore.

  • 1. God of the scriptures, and god of the Bible currently are not the same (2 Tim. 3:16-17. Matt 22:21)

    2. Perhaps many are turned off because man 'judges' for God, based apparently on 5 things; but God judges on the 6th (why). 1 Samuel 16:7.

Let's step out of the box a minute. Is there really difference between A man Judging you and God judging you. A man judges you based on emotions, and feelings, and thoughts, and morals. Ever been judged wrong by a man? He has doubts because he doesn't believe you, so you get punished for something you didn't do. God judges you based on your actions alone. He doesn't sit there and ponder if he should believe you or not. Because he saw what you did. There is no need of trying to convince him. What does Man reward you with, if you follow his laws? Freedom. What does God give you? Eternal life, of peace, and happiness. With no sin, no evil thoughts, nothing but unconditional love. I myself would love to live a life, where there was no more pain and suffering, or killings, or violence. To live at peace Sounds much better then anything man could give me.

Well firstly, if god were to judge, he would need to make it clear to us what his purpose is and what his rules are. He hasn't. No proof of a god! Secondly, why would god feel the need to judge what he created? He then would be calling himself flawed and god is perfect is he not? Why do we assume that if there is a god, this god would have human emotions?

As someone else said, why would god create a less powerful being just so he could sit and watch them kissing his feet. Does god have in insecurity problem?

When I hear that you worship the creator of hell, I know that you have not yet looked within. When you do, you will know that no supreme being would create a reality in which hell was required. Unlike our courts, a judge who is aware of every moment of your life and every thought you ever had will have nothing but compassion for you, and it would also know the suffering that naturally happens to those who do harm. It is a lack of awareness on your part, from which a supreme being could not suffer, by definition.

A judge in a court fits the punishment to the crime. An eternal torture is quite a sentence for eighty years or less of sin. Truthfully I am turned on to a loving God who would do no such thing.

We should be the ones judging god, not the other way around.

He murdered an entire planet according to your "good book" so innocent people had to pay for ....what exactly? He supposed left that tree right in front of two people that were "innocent as babes" and since he is "omnipotent" he played a trick on them because he knew what they were going to do anyway. Guess that doesn't make him all the "omnipotent" now does it?

Your imaginary god is guilty of murder.

If a judge in a court of law finds evidence that you murdered someone, that is a much better reason to punish you than, say, being born gay. I wouldn't want to be closer to a god that made me "incorrectly" and then made me pay for it afterward.

There are no cults of people following judges in court either.

OH! Not to mention, when a judge does something completely unconstitutional, you can take it to a higher court.Real judges are a lot more fair than imaginary ones :)

Ah, you don't like judgement, eh?

The Spirit of the Lord Omnipotent, has wrought a mighty change in us, or in our hearts, that we have no more disposition to do evil, but to do good continually.

Parents that set rules and guidelines for their children and give punishment when the rules and guidelines are broken are considered good, loving and caring parents. Yet when God does this for His children, He is called cruel, domineering, manipulating, unloving and judgmental.

The rules established by God and recorded for us in the Bible are for our safety and benefit.

People who want to do everything their way with no rules or guidelines are rebellious and foolish. They make decisions based on their fleshly desires and will wind up at the end of the wrong road.
