  • Goose smells bad, still good?

A friend gave me an extra goose he shot this morning. It sat undressed for about 4-5 hours at about 45 degree weather. I have never dressed a goose before, but noticed when I opened the ice chest, it had a fairly unpleasant odor to it. Removing the organs, it smelled more. I did not check well enough to see if the gall was intact... does goose usually have a stronger odor? Is it safe to eat?

  • P90x ab ripper x hard on back?

This is my first week on p90x. I'm finding that the ab ripper is very hard for me in part due to my back. I do have some history with "minor" back injury. I'm not sure if this is to be expected at first, maybe my form is off? I find that the v up roll ups are specifically hard on my back.

Any ideas, modifications, or input would be welcome.

  • Foolishness of christianity (creationist) and evolution.?

I think it is time that both parties admit to the foolishness of what is believed (stick with me here):

Christianity: We believe (yes, I am a Christian) that an eternal, all powerful spirit created all things, including time. He made people, who disobeyed him, so a part of God, who is fully God came as a man, being completely man and completely God and was murdered for our sakes. He was then resurrected, floated up into the sky, and sent to his followers the Spirit of God, (who is also God) to help them. One day, that man will come back again on a white horse to get all of those who believe in him.

Evolution: Nothing created everything. Usually described by the big bang in which there was nothingness that exploded and created all energy and matter. The earth was formed as a result, then when rain and lightning came together randomly a basic single cell creature was created. Over billions of years of mutation and replication it became every living creator on the face of the earth. Somehow these cells grew wings, lungs, gills, legs, scales, incredibly complex body parts and functions, etc. As these creators evolved they evolved with compatible mates, which had also evolved sexual organs though luckily one was male and the other female. The earth continues in this manner, until mankind came on the scene. Likely we and most creatures around us will evolve and become different creatures all together.

Any origin thesis and any religion sounds foolish... it just does. However, someone is right.

One gives hope, and purpose. The other says we are only chance, that we are accountable to no one, and death is the end of it all.

Lets respect one another, and share our thoughts.

    and Christians remember: 1Co 1:18-19

    (18) For the preaching of the cross is foolishness to those being lost, but to us being saved, it is the power of God.

    (19) For it is written, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will set aside the understanding of the perceiving ones."

  • Christians, why do you seem to think nonbelievers should conform to christian morality?

If it takes the power of Jesus, and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to convict, and change lives... why would we seem shocked or disappointed when they live their lives "unchristian"?

Should we not show love to them in all circumstances? If we can not show them grace, and love them when they need it, why would we expect them to believe the gospel?

We should be more concerned with living our lives according to the furtherance of the gospel, and constructively admonishing other Christians to do the same.

We should be dealing with the problem, not the symptoms. The problem: People need Jesus.

    Agreed?

  • (Christiainity) Change in the definition of "Reformed"?

It seems to me that the "title" reformed has changed in meaning. I am not one big into labels... however I would consider myself reformed, by the reformers definition.

The reformers staked their lives on the claims of "The 5 Solas:"

1 Sola scriptura ("by Scripture alone")

2 Sola fide ("by faith alone")

3 Sola gratia ("by grace alone")

4 Solus Christus or Solo Christo ("Christ alone" or "through Christ alone")

5 Soli Deo gloria ("glory to God alone")

Today however reformed theology and Calvinism seem to be used interchangeably. Why?

Don't get me wrong I have no through beef with Calvinism. I just do not (personally) think your views on predestination are as vital. Certainly it was not pointed to by the reformers.

Anyone else feel me on this?

  • Turned off by the Christian "judgemental" God?

Often times people seemed turned off by Christianity because the God of the Bible isn't ok with a lot of things, and is very "narrow minded" towards salvation.

When they hear that God is a judge they want nothing to do with him, but if a judge in a court of law sentiences you and you do not like it, do you get to ignore it?

If there is a God of all things, it is reasonable that he created all things for a purpose, and has full right to judge according to his purpose. Shouldn't we then want to be closer to God, so that we may delight in His favor, and not suffer in his judgement?

  • Christians, what are your views of the Bible?

Is it all God's word/ God breathed?

    Is in inerrant?

    Should it be considered authoritative?

Do you think you can pick and choose what you want to believe in it?

    Is context important?

    Is it worth dying for?

If so did some die in vein to preserve it or translate it?

What do you think about the Bible?
