You may have a million dollar gun there. I find no evidence Winchester ever made an 1873 in .30-30. There are a lot of reproduction pieces in calibers, that Winchester never made, notably .45 Colt. There is even one in .454 Casull, but I didn't find any repro in .30-30.

The Winchester Model 1873 (the gun that won the West) was only manufactured from 1873 until 1919. It was only chambered in calibers: .44-40; .38-40; .32-20 and .22 rimfire.

So if your Winchester is original it is not a .30-30. The .30-30 is nearly synonymous with the Winchester Model 1894.

If your Winchester is an 1873 and is in good to great conditions, not refinished and especially if it has some history (was it originally owned by a well-known lawman, rancher or infamous outlaw) it is worth big, big bucks. Well over a thousand US dollars. If it is the newer, more commonly found 1894 it is still worth (depending on conditions, etc.) some $250 to $400.

Consider this, currently the 1894 (or the 1873 for that matter!) is not in production. If it should return to production it will probably be manufactured in Japan. Consider keeping it.

We need a LOT more info to make the call on this one and pictures if possible. Winchester made some limited runs of this model like the 1 n 100 and the 1 n 1000 that can fetch a nice chunk of cash. Then you got your basic models and different calibers etc.

Personally, I wouldn't sell this rifle unless I absolutely had to if was me. Now in the event you do sell it, let me know. I can't promise anything but I've been looking to pick up a model 73' for a long time.

I would ck it again Winchester never made a 1873 30-30. 1894 was in 30-30.

1873 used the 38-40 and .32-20,44-40,.22 rim fire rounds.

If the gun was actually bought new, as in "new in box," in 1984, then there's no WAY it was manufactured in 1950. Winchester has made the model 94 carbine for a looooong time with few substantial changes. The saddle ring was and continues to be a common option.

The '73' was not offered in 30-30.

    That action wasn't strong enough.
