I don't know if this qualifies, but early in the summer an Air France plane crashed in the Atlantic off Brazil. For a few weeks it was all you heard, but it is never mentioned since the first few weeks. I know the Black Boxes were never found so the mystery might never be solved.

Well i know when Farrah Fawcett died on the same day as michael jackson i head about it maybe once or twice and that was it.

not the most important but least reported, in my opinion i thought she was just as important as other celebrity and while she was suffering with cancer, Michael was poppin up on pills like always... He killed himself while she had a deadly disease, which i guess nobody thought was important enough.
