Skipping out on your insulin is like playing Russian roulet with their health. With diabulimia there is an increased chance of death. I gathered some info from wickpedia about Diabulimia and what damage it can do....If a person with Type 1 diabetes who has diabulimia suffers from the disease for more than a short time—usually due to alternating phases during which insulin is injected properly, and relapses, during which they have diabulimia—then the following longer-term symptoms can be expected:

    Severe kidney damage

    Blindness

Severe neuropathy (nerve damage to hands and feet)

    Extreme fatigue

Edema (during blood sugars controlled phases)

    Heart problems

    High cholesterol

    Osteoporosis

    Death

There are healthy ways to manage your weight, like snacking on lots of salads and veggies and not to eat past 7pm, unless needed. I wish you the best. Take care

Skipping a dose of insulin is just stupid. Even if it did help you lost weight, it is going to take time off your life. When you sugar is high, it causes damage to your body. Not to mention I don't think it is going to give you the weight loss you want. Insulin inhibits fat storage and when you produce (for a non-diabetic) or take a lot of it, it can make you hungry. I have been a type one diabetic for 15 years now. I am on somewhat of a low carb diet. It cuts out at least one shot a day, because I am not eating carbs so there is no need for the insulin. I have also lost about ten pounds and it make me feel better. You will be less hungry, if you take less insulin, thus losing weight. However you should do it in a healthy way, by limiting your carbs so you don't need to take larger amounts of insulin. I don't eat more than a serving (15g) of carbs in a meal, and I have lost weight and cut my insulin in half.

1st of all, skipping 1 dose isnt going to make you lose any weight. 2nd of all i lost a lot of weight when i was first diagnosed while they were messing with my meds, and didnt have them right, I almost DIED(no joke). Not to mention that for your sugars to be high enough for you to lose weight you will feel like crap, and i mean crap. You will not be able to sleep an hour in a row without peeing, you will be soooo thirsty you feel like your going to die, i'm sure youve felt high sugars, but for them to be high enough long enough for you to lose weight, you will feel misery like never before, ive been there. Also the reason you lose weight is because your body is trying so hard to get rid of the sugars that you dont absorb anything from food, sure things like calories, but also the things you need, like vitamins and such, you will basically be starving your body. I was so starved, even though i was eating every day regularly that i had heart palpitations so severly that i would pray every night that i would wake up in the morning, and not have a heart attack, seriously. If you want to lose weight, it can be hard while on insulin, but skipping your insulin is dumb and not the way to go, unless you want to be blind with kidney failure. You just need to really amp up your exercise and cut your carbs a bit, and you should see some sort of result if you try really hard and are committed. Good luck and take care!

Type 2 diabetes, usually referred to as adult onset, is when your body produces insulin but can not use it properly. This type can be treated successfully with the right diet and exercise in most circumstances. Read here https://tr.im/YYO5F

If blood sugars are not kept under control at some point insulin will probably be integrated / oral medications are also available. People with diabetes can live long, happy lives but must be diligent in their care and make sure you see your endocrinologist on a regular basis.

Skipping one dose will not help you lose weight. You need to skip LOTS of doses, like for 3 to 4 WEEKS at a time.

of course, this will make you VERY ill, and damage your internal organs. it will ALSO damage your sex organs, and possibly you could end up unable to perform sexually.

The reason a diabetic looses weight is because of RHABDOMYLOSIS. Since the body cannot use sugar, your cells starve to death. Your body thinks it is in "Starvation Mode", and sends out signals saying "USE INTERNAL RESOURCES!" So your body tries to digest ITSELF!

Now, fat is a very complex substance, and take a LOT of work to digest. But muscle is much simpler! So when in starvation mode, you body starts to digest MUSCLE, not fat. this is called RHABDOMYLOSIS.

The result of Rhabdomylosis is very rapid weight loss. But when muscle is digested it ALSO gives off certain toxins in the body. These toxins overload your kidney, and result in permanent damage. When you have an attack of Rhabdomylosis, you will often experience kidney failure. Kidney failure means PERMANENT damage to the kidneys, and often results in dialysis -- one of the most painful and sickening procedures possible. But that is your ONLY choice when kidneys fail!

YOU DO NOT WANT TO EXPERIENCE RHABDOMYLOSIS!

DO NOT skip your insulin doses! Reduce your weight by eating less and exercising more. ALWAYS consult with your doctor before doing so, because he will have to adjust your insulin dosage.

Try massaging your partner. This is a fun way to lose weight. It is something that can give your partner a lot of pleasure and at the same time can give you a lot of exertion there by leading to weight loss. The attitude over here should of course be you scratch my back I will scratch yours. It should not be a one sided effort or else the interest will soon dwindle. In fact it is a good idea if couple takes up weight loss routines together. They can keep watch over each other, help control those urges to eat and motivate each other to stick to the routine. There are a lot of things that couples can do together that can help them to keep physically active.

Since you are talking about doses, I am assuming you are on MDI. Look into getting a pump. This allowed my son (who is type 1) to eat smaller amounts of carbs and spread them out over the day (lots of small meals instead of three big ones plus snacks). He was a little pudgy, as most type 1s usually are, but has really slimmed down. Adding muscle doesn't hurt, either. Muscle burns a lot of fat, even when you are sleeping.

Even if your insurance company won't cover a pump, research them on-line and then talk with the company you like the best. Sometimes they are really willing to work within your budget just to get you up and pumping. I knew one lady who could only afford $5 a month and Deltec let her pay that amount until she got back on her feet again and could afford higher payments. My son uses the Omnipod and just loves it. Good luck!
