President Obama + Nobel Peace Prize?

How many conservatives woke up this morning to this 'crushing news' and had to start sucking down antacids? Do you think this will ruin their weekends? Is anybody else loving this as much as I?

He won it and we can't ask him to give it back now. I think Cindy Castano, an “ordinary" person working to stop slavery and genocide in the Sudan should have got a Nobel Peace Award. Popularity may get you a 2009 nobel peace prize, but it won't necessarily make

    the world a better place.

I am a conservative, but I am not sucking down antacids, nor do I think this is "crushing news". I think that the tenor of the prize has changed - no longer is it given for achievement, but rather "intent" or "hope" or something like that. Obama gives a great speech, he is very good looking and eloquent, and has all the right symbolism. The Nobel committee is as taken in as the rest of his admirers. I would prefer to wait and see if his hope and change actually accomplishes anything, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

The Nobel Prize has become political, just like the UN and other agencies. At least the Olympic Committee isn't blind to this hype.

Now let's see, back in 2002 Jimmy Carter won the Nobel Peace Prize, and in 2007 Al Gore won the Nobel Peace Prize, and now Barrack Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize. Carter and Gore were both inept in their office and neither lasted very long in Washington DC and they were both losers! See any similarities here!

I heard and I am so proud that say I am an American. He will have to live up to, I personally believe he can handle it.

I have no doubt. Congradulations President Obama. Don't give it a second thought about your Haters. This Committee said you do deserve this Noble Prize. Keep your head up and trust in God that he will show you the way.

Wow, I don't want anyone to feel bad about a good thing. Having an American win the prize is an honor to us all. We should be proud of him and celebrate with him in his victory. Why would anyone wish him bad luck? If it ruins their weekend, it may be because of jealousy.

If you don't vote for someone, that doesn't mean you should hate their victories. You shouldn't wish them bad results. If you support them for the full term, they can only do better and you will feel better about yourselves. Why would they want to feel jealousy, hate, anger and disappointment? How can this possibly change anything? It can't help them cope with their disappointment?

Here is the reason for the committees choice:

Obama's election and foreign policy moves caused a dramatic improvement in the image of the U.S. around the world. A 25-nation poll of 27,000 people released in July by the Pew Global Attitudes Project found double-digit boosts to the percentage of people viewing the U.S. favorably in countries around the world. That indicator had plunged across the world under President George W. Bush.

President Obama deserves the Nobel Peace Award. He is definitely peace loving unlike ex-President Bush who thought of war to solve issues. It created more problems than solving them. Now there is the issue of how to withdraw troops

He is definitely charismatic and he has shown good performance over the past 9 months. All his deeds and directions point towards a better world.

I wonder if Glenn Beck will join the enemies of America in condemning the Nobel Prize and if he will plan another 9/12.

If he does do that.....I'll be driving down to DC with a bucket of rotten tomatoes in hand!

Wont take antacids but what a joke bestowing this award on a man who hasn't done anything.

Gandhi was never given the award but Arafat was, what does that tell you about the award?

I defy you to tell me a single thing he has done to deserve this. He is the leader of a country that is currently at war in two different FOREIGN countries. He supports the needless death of children and elderly persons in order to save money.

Oh...by the way...he was nominated after being in office for less than a month!!
